Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England
In an idyllic historic, rural setting next to millpond, river & waterfall, this barn-cottage conversion is light, airy and spacious. Furnished mainly with antiques and original oil paintings, it is stylish, but with Yorkshire character. The kitchen, with its large antique mulberry wood table is often used a second living room.
This is a particularly eco-friendly cottage with a solar panels, wood pellet boiler for central heating, hydro-electric power, wood burner, under-floor heating and massive insulation. We have a charging point for electric vehicles.
It is also an excellent base for discovering the glories of uncrowded Summer Wine Country, the dramatic northern Peak District, Chatsworth, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Bronte Country and Haworth and the lesser known Bronte connections of West Yorkshire's charming country houses.

Hidden away from everything this lovely quaint house is a great place to stay only about 10 minutes drive from the edge of Huddersfield. The gardens are beautiful. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The drive is very very steep!

About the neighbourhood
The rugged West Riding of Yorkshire is quite unlike anywhere else. Seat of the industrial revolution and although relatively densely populated, its steep valleys and wide open moorland can give one the impression of being isolated.

Marsden boasts the longest, highest canal tunnel in Britain. There are trips into and at the visitor centre you can learn how to 'leg' it all the way to Lancashire.

Less than 3 miles away, Titanic Spa offers the latest in pampering

There are myriad attractions within a relatively short distance - even cities such as Manchester, Leeds, Bradford and Halifax are all less than 25 miles away.

For the artistically inclined, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an absolute MUST!
