Gowland Cottage is a charming Grade II Listed Fisherman's Cottage in Scarborough's Old Town. A very short walk from Scarborough's South and North Bays, the Castle and headland, restaurants, pubs, bars and shops. Cosy and comfortably furnished, with a sheltered patio garden and private parking, this characterful house is full of history and makes a family friendly base to explore all that Scarborough and its surrounds have to offer. You have private use of the cottage, we are not on site. However, we are available at the end of a telephone to assist with any problems or queries. Keys are obtainable from key safe outside the parking area to the rear of the property. Instructions will be sent prior to your arrival. The cottage contains lots of suggestions for great places to visit in and around Scarborough, and we recommend you visit 'Discover Yorkshire Coast' website before you travel for up to date information on what's happening during your stay.

About the neighbourhood
Gowland Cottage is situated in the heart of the Old Town. It is a conservation area, with cobbled street. The cottage is located in Tollergate which is on a hill and would have been the boundary of the castle settlement 500 years ago. Scarborough has expanded considerably since! The immediate area is residential, Seamen's homes, St. Peter's and St. Mary's churches, fishermen's cottages. Within 7 mins walk are Scarborough Castle (three thousand years of history awaits you there), a vast array of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and traditional seaside entertainment, as well as some stunning walks, surfing, shopping, food markets, theatre, dancing and Open Air Theatre attracting top music artists.
Getting around
Shops, restaurants, beaches, bars and activities are within a very short walking distance from the house. There is an open air bus tour of the town, bus connections to Whitby and train connections to York. Private parking at the back of the house for two cars means you can have the pleasure of close amenities in the Old Town without the parking hassle and drive out to the North York Moors for breathtaking scenery and walks to suit all abilities; North Yorkshire Moors Steam railway - Goathland, (Heartbeat country), Robin Hood's Bay and much much more.
