Pilton House Gower is.... a self-catering family- & dog- friendly characterful Edwardian cottage, set in the heart of Newton Village, on the edge of the beautiful Gower Peninsula, within a 5 minute drive or 15-20 minute walk to the lovely sandy beaches of Langland & Caswell, and a little further from even more spectacular sandy beaches, amazing parks, breathtaking coastal paths, and is also less than a 10 minute drive (or 20 minute walk) to Mumbles village & its mostly local (rather than national) shops, restaurants, pubs, pier & lifeboat station, plus its still-standing-after-so-many-centuries, Norman Castle. . Our cottage is spread over 3 floors, & comprises of 7 rooms, each of which affords plenty of space in which to relax, eat, wash/shower, walk about, cook, & sleep, everything having been fully refurbished to modern standards a few years ago. Blending an eclectic mix of furniture & furnishings from its early Edwardian roots, combined with elements from the 1920s & 1930s, together with 21st century touches, everything has been undertaken to ensure that all who holiday at Pilton House Gower will like what they see, enjoy their stay, be comfortable throughout the building, & - as many have written in our Visitor's Book - will want to (& often do) return, time & again. Words alone, however, don't fully illustrate what a property looks like, & some owners' descriptions may be biased to what they want a would-be holidaymaker to see before parting with their hard-earned cash, but in my instance I would say that although I am an owner; & yes, I admit to being biased towards my property as I am proud of everything it is, so hopefully you will also be pleased to hear that I always want the property to look as good for the next holidaymakers who stay, as it did the time before, & the time before that,. Perhaps you will also want to know that after our current holidaymakers' leave, I & my team of cleaners move heaven & earth to ensure that the next holidaymakers' will believe that no-one has stayed in the place before them. Now that's what I call being a hands-on owner whose care and attention is directed to & for everyone who comes to stay at our cottage. Benefiting from a private & safe courtyard garden containing various shrubs, a patio with garden furniture, and a secure rear gate, the garden also houses a refurbished 'Studio' which provides excellent storage & drying facilities. Two things for which our cottage is renowned (besides our friendliness & our always being contactable should it be necessary), are that on arrival, our holidaymakers receive what can only be best described at the biggest (anywhere) 'all-Welsh-produce' Welcome Pack (see the photos), & that for holidaymakers who wish to bring their well-behaved dogs, not only do we welcome up to 3, but we also don't make any charge for dogs who stay (well, has anyone ever seen dogs with their own money, let alone have any pockets in which to put it?!) We first let our cottage in 2012, & having met lots of lovely holidaymakers over the years, many of whom return time & again to enjoy what not only what Pilton House Gower offers as an ideal place to stay, but its being a springboard from which to explore the area, we are aware of not only everything we are able to provide, but also of the two things we really wish we could (not that the lack of them has knowingly to us ever stopped anyone from staying), & those two things are that the only bathroom (a shower-room actually) isn't on the same level as the bedrooms, & that there isn't anywhere on the property itself for parking, although there is plenty of on-road non-restricted & free, parking available immediately opposite, plus very close by (Newton being a village, few of its cottages have drives or suchlike) Having mentioned the bedrooms (of which there are 2), the back bedroom houses a SuperKing bed (which - on request - can be separated into 2 single beds), as well as a 3-door pine wardrobe with drawers, a pine chest of drawers, 2 bedside tables, an Edwardian fireplace, 2 modern mannequin-type clothes holders, & besides wall-, ceiling- and table- lights, we also provide for your use, a DAB radio, a Hairdrier, & an USB charging/access point. The other bedroom is to the front, & is quite a lot larger, housing a Double bed, & a range of Edwardian furniture, including a large wardrobe, a dressing table with mirror (& drawers), a 'low boy' (with drawers & a cupboard, 2 bedside cabinets, an ottoman, a chair & a piano stool (!), an Edwardian fireplace, 3 rugs, & enough space in which to have either a cot or a toddler bed, & still have plenty of room to move about (& 1 of its 2 windows has a view over Swansea Bay). Unfortunately, space doesn't allow me to write more, so hopefully our photos will replace mere words, and better explain why our cottage is THE place to stay; so we thank you for looking, & hope to welcome you to Pilton House Gower, for YOUR 'we will return' holiday!More

Interaction with guests
Whichever means of transport is used to travel to our cottage, we would appreciate a phone call or message to us (on our mobile) when you are approximately 45 minutes away (which roughly works out to be when passing the Bridgend turn-off (J32) on the M4) That we live about 15 minutes away from Pilton House Gower, but might be out walking our dog when you ring, gives us plenty of time to get to the cottage to not only meet & greet you, show you where things are (including all maps and guide books), and also explain how some items work, before we give you a set of keys, and leave you to enjoy your holiday!

We spent ages looking for a place to stay in the mumbles after our regular accusation that we'd used for the previous 2 years was booked up. This turned out to be a blessing as we ended up choosing to stay here. The host's went...More

Pilton House was an excellent base to explore The Gower, situated just above Langland and Caswell Bays, within walking distance of both and The Mumbles. The house is very comfortable and the owners cannot do enough for you. Would highly recommend it.

About the neighbourhood
In the heart of the village of Newton, is Pilton House Gower, set amongst an eclectic mix of mostly Victorian and Edwardian cottages, yet one that still has two very popular shops (one a Newsagent that also sells Groceries, Wines, Bread and Stationery; the other a Butchers making their own specials. that also sells Groceries, Fruit & Veg, Frozen Foods and Bread), the village also has two Pubs, two places of worship, two local beaches (Langland and Caswell), two close-by large Parks, lots of Restaurants in nearby Mumbles - and that village also has a range of local and national Shops, a fantastic Castle, a lovely sea-view walk along the Promenade to Mumbles Pier and its Lifeboat Station, and coastal walks aplenty.
Getting around
Way away from the trappings of a busy City, yet not too far away from wondrous beauty that just has to be seen to be believed, Pilton House Gower sits on the edge of the renowned Gower Peninsula, yet is ideally placed for visiting all that the area (and places further afield) can offer. Although buses (going to both Mumbles and Swansea) do stop a few yards/metres away from our cottage's back gate, by far the 'most convenient' way to see the sights of Gower is by car, as they can go on main roads, down narrow country lanes, and just about anywhere else, whilst buses mostly keep to main roads, but whichever transport is used, try to combine it with walking, for only then will Gower fully reveal its all to you.
