Having stayed 2 years previous across the road we had a good idea of what to expect locally - on arriving the complex and apartment were easy to locate and was very clean and well equipped. Fair bit of building work going on in the vicinity but as all balconies and windows overlooked the pool area, this was not obvious. The reason for not giving a 5* review was that the air conditioning was not operational at the time and ,with arriving on a Sunday, we were unable to ask the local agent until the Monday morning. This eventually got repaired on the Tuesday afternoon, though to be honest it was not an absolute necessity - the apartment got the sun in the morning and was shaded after lunchtime, but would have been a nice to have at the start of our break. The complex itself was well maintained with an excellent and well sized pool with plenty of loungers around (though these did get "devoured" by residents very early in the morning and sadly did seem to have towels on them but no owners around for large periods of the day - this is no reflection on the apartment obviously).
Back to the caveat on the title though - the noise at night. Whether it is the acoustics of the complex (three sides plus significant walls at the other side) hemming sound in but where large groups stayed on balconies with music on up to 1am on occasions this really echoed around and wasn't conducive to a decent night's sleep (especially with kids). Again though, I cannot score the apartment down on that as it is out of the owner's control. Generally, residents were predominantly families and as such it was only one or two apartments in the complex creating the problem.
Local amenities are great - Pingo Doce 5 mins walk away and a well hidden secret that is Gomba Pastelaria at the bottom of the road - their Pastel de nata became a daily pilgrimage for us. Easy walk to the marina and in to town whilst access to buses to Meia Praia and Dona Ana / Pinhao were within walking distance.
I would definitely recommend the apartment and certainly Lagos from a wider perspective.
