'Borgo Borghese' guest house is located in Sant 'Alessio Siculo in the beautiful Val d' Agro just 10 km from Taormina. We are in the countryside at 600 m from the sea. Inside the property there are two buildings, one is the main house where the owners live and in the other one there are two independent apartments. Each flat has been recently restored and it is composed by a patio with garden table and chairs, a furnished and confortable kitchen, a bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a doublebed and a smaller bedroom with a bunk bed. Each flat is suitable for 2/4 persons . Close to the appartment there is a path six km long that reach the beach from one side and the valley from the other side.

About the neighbourhood
The Romans called Sant' Alessio 'Promontorium'. The present-day name first appears in a document of 1117 and probably derives from Alexius emperor of Constantnople, who was a guest at the castle around which there later developed the whole village.

So the castle, as we see it today, dates from the Norman period. It was restructured at the start of the nineteenth century by the English, who also built the outer ring of walls, to defend it against attacks by the French, who were preparing to invade Sicily from Calabria.
