The flat is centrally located, just a short walk from the marvelous Saint Mark's square, in Saint Mark's district.
This district is the original heart of the city. The square served as the political and judicial center of the Republic of Venice for close to a thousand years.
This location lets you take in the splendid Palazzo Ducale (the seat of Venice's political power since the 9th century), the suggestive Saint Mark's Basilica (the Doge's private chapel until 1807) and the picturesque Watch Tower festooned with statues of Venetian moors striking the hours on the huge bell at its top... a most singular of views that captures the magic of this age-old city.
The arch beneath the Tower links the Piazza with the Mercerie, that is, the city's high-street since the Republic's birth. Today it is lined with scores of luxury brand stores.
A short walk takes you to the Paglia bridge, behind Ducale Palace, and the famous Bridge of Sighs beyond which lies the Castello district.
Other points of historical and cultural interest are undoubtedly the magnificent La Fenice theater (Venice's main lyrical venue – destroyed and resurrected several times), the Saint Moisè church and Palazzo Grassi (which has lately been converted into a prestigious gallery).
If shopping is your thing, then you'll be glad to know that the apartment is basically located on Calle 24 March, better known as the “famous brands” street, where numerous stores and boutiques store the latest fashions.
The closest water bus stop is Rialto.

“Great Location, Average Apartment”

The location of this apartment is fantastic. It is close to both the Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. The apartment was clean but definitely did not look as high end as the pictures made it appear. Functional but average in décor and appearance.
The second bathroom has a shower that is tiny - only children and tiny people will fit. The rest of us not so much! It does have a terrace but no view except the stone walls that surround it.
Overall it is functional but average.
Make sure you have a copy of the damage deposit you have paid in advance as I had to show mine not to be charged a second time.
