Lovely, independent apartment of 40 square metres that has been totally restructured and finely furnished. It is located in the historic centre of Rome, in the Monti district, on the ground floor of a building dating back to the Seventeenth-Century, just 400 meters away from the Imperial Forum and the Coliseum. The Monti district, the oldest one in Rome, has maintained its original character thanks to the unchanged dimensions of its streets, houses and squares and is the area where Romans lived 2000 years ago. The apartment is right in the heart of the city and is easy to reach from Termini train station and the airports. About the neighbourhood
Monti is an ancient and central area in Rome. Centrally located between Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum, this is The place to while away the afternoon peeking into vintage stores, paging through old books, grabbing coffee in Rome’s chicest cafes, chatting over aperitivo, and people watching at the fountain in Piazza della Madonna dei Monti. A tiny quartiere, it’s a haven between the tourist traps of Via Nazionale and Via Cavour, and much more Roman than the more popular districts like Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona. This is working-class Rome, where older couples maintain tradition, even as young entrepreneurs open trendy galleries.
Getting around
Begin the day with a cappuccino, either in one of several cafes (like The Full Monti at Via dei Serpenti 163 – a name that was just waiting to happen) that surround the area's central hub, Piazza della Madonna dei Monti, where dog walkers congregate and flirt with each other around the plain Renaissance-era fountain, or saunter over to La Casetta (62 Via della Madonna dei Monti, closed Tuesday). This ivy-covered charmer has to be one of the most photographed houses in Monti; it's also one of the oldest, dating back at least to the mid-15th century.
