Family with 2 kids and a mother-in-law.
I simply loved this apartment!
Located just off Plaza de la Nogalera, this property has restaurants, shops, bars, beach, taxis, trains, buses and much more on your doorstep. I have been to Torremolinos several times (usually staying near Paseo Maritimo), so am familiar with this area.
Part of Apartamentos La Nogalera, we had access to the private pool area (swipe card required), which had a kids pool (0.4m depth - which was closed while we were there) and a large pool (1.3m to 2.9m depth), sun loungers and umbrellas. I believe there might be another pool as part of this complex, but wasn't at it.
Arrived late on a Sunday evening and got the key from Paco who showed us the apartment and was able for any issues if needed. Had 2 kids and a tea drinker so went straight out to look for shop, the Supermarket - literally less than 2 mins walk away - was closed (not open on Sunday), but the Plaza has a large Dealz(!! used to be a H&M store) and it was open till midnight. No fresh milk, but had long life milk.
Did I mention, I loved the apartment?
It was very spacious with 3 large bedrooms - a twin room (with another bed under one), a double room and the kids room which had another double bed - and which had the most floor space).
There were 2 decent sized bathrooms (both with showers, toilet and sink).
3 balconies - The kids room had a balcony which wasn't big, but had willow covering for privacy and was safe for kids, the double room had large balcony with a 4 poster canopy and garden table/chairs and then off the living room was another large balcony.
In the Kitchen / Dining / Living area, you had a long kitchen counter with fridge/freezer, washing machine and plenty of kitchen accessories, a breakfast bar separating the living area, a dining table (with another square table which could be added to it), 2 sofas (one a fold down bed), an LCD TV (don't know which channels, but I had brought my own entertainment) and WIFI (password on the box).
As the place was so large, we did not feel like we were on top of each other, we could even sit out on a balcony without being under each others feet.
One bathroom had a rain fall type shower which I had the pleasure of using, but there was some water on the floor after (not sure how it got out), so we mostly used the other shower. Note: There is no immersion to heat the water, but you do need to run the water for nearly 2 mins before it gets hot. Once hot it is fairly stable & easy to control (no temperature swings).
There are shutters on all the doors and windows to block out the light (hand for security too) and the front door is solid with a strong lock.
As much as we liked the pool, the kids just loved the beach and the beach in Torremolinos is amazing, with loads of restaurants and shops nearby, sun loungers and umbrellas for rent on and those fabulous waves (perfect for kids).
There are a few ways to reach the beach, straight down Calle Danza Invisible you will find steps which will bring you down the side of Melia (130 steps - I think there may be a lift part of the way?) or you could walk a bit further to the left (to Calle Santos Arcángeles, at the end of Calle San Miguel) and go down the zig/zag steps (182 steps, but a much more leisurely stroll with shops and restaurants along the way - it is even possible to bring a buggy). Then again you could also use the elevator (50c per person) which goes nearly the whole way down.
Plaza de la Nogalera has loads of restaurants (go to Bobbies for a very special Cappuccino), bars (would recommend Garfields) and shops. there is a Bandstand which serves as the focal point for festivals and performers. Also there is a small playground with swings, etc. for young children. You can also catch the train here (underground), which will take you to the airport and Malaga (worth a visit) and towards Fuengirola in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile the main street (Calle Costa Del Sol) has now been pedestrianised which is good as this used to be very busy with traffic. Restaurants now have tables out onto the road and this should grow into a great socialising area in the future.
Other places to go... Aqualand (a waterslide paradise), Tivoli World (3 stops on train with shows during summer for all the family), La Carihuela (more shops, beach and restaurants) and Benalmadena Marina where you can dine overlooking the boats and apartments. Also Parque La BaterÃa looks great, but didn't manage to fit it in - about 25 min walk from the apartment.
Would highly recommend this apartment and next time I am heading this way, will be definitely be checking here first.
