Should have booked for a longer stay -- terrific!
Thomas Baumberger's house in Oberammergau is an ideal location for a family vacation. We were six people -- two grandsons (4 and 7), my daughter and her husband, and the two of us. The pictures on-line of the house do not reveal how big it really is -- lots of room for the kids to play inside and out. The views across the valley were inspiring and awesome. Even though the house is at the top of the street (i.e., walking uphill from town), everything is within walking distance -- the mountain trails, the alpine ride, the town of Oberammergau. Schloss Linderhof is only 15 minutes by car; Ettal Monastery is 10 minutes; Garmisch/Partenkirchen is about 30 minutes. The house is brand new and spotless and at the end of the road, so there was no traffic and it was safe for the boys to be outside on their own. We would highly recommend this property and location.
