Great stay close to Annecy
We spent a week in Sue's lovely house. We were 7 adults and a toddler and we had a very comfortable stay. The bedrooms were large and airy with lots of closet space. You definitely need a car to get around as there's not much just around the house. But lake Annecy is very close and we also did a trip to Chamonix and other towns. Sue's house was a great base to explore the area and the we were lucky with the weather as we could barbeque and eat outside in the garden which was lovely. Thanks for a great stay.

Thanks for your kind comments and I'm glad you were comfortable at the house and enjoyed exploring the area. For the benefit of future guests it's worth highlighting that even though the house is very close to Annecy centre and the lake, the surrounding area has so much to offer visitors in terms of cycling, hiking and visiting, that it really is worth hiring a car if you are not bringing your own. I would, of course, be delighted to welcome you back for a future trip!

Cosy home with stunning views
We stayed with our grown up children and dog and were lucky to have fantastic weather which we hadn't expected at that time of year. The house has amazing views down the valley and of the mountains and is spacious and comfortable with a lovely homely feel. The kitchen is very well equipped though is small for the size of the house (more than 2 people and it gets a bit cramped) but there is a lovely large dining table so you can commune here plus there is a large outside eating area. The main bathroom is lovely but the shower is rather small. However there is another more spacious shower in the basin and 2 separate toilets so plenty for our party of 7. The beds are very comfortable, though the pillows were not great and only 1 was provided where I would have preferred 2. The property is about a 10 minute drive from Annecy and about 5 minutes to the nearest supermarket. There isn't too much around within walking distance in terms of restaurants (there was 1 and another bar but this was closed when we were there but perhaps is open in the main season). There was a tabac nearby but this was also closed all the time during our week long stay - again this could be a seasonal thing. However, there are loads of lovely places a little further afield but I would say you definitely need a car. There are also lots of lovely walks up into the mountains which can be accessed from the house. If travelling with a dog be aware that there is no gate at the front of the house and the road below can get quite busy with cars in the morning and early evening (the house is opposite a residential area so people are obviously traveling to work), so you need to be vigilant (there were a few cats about which were very tempting to our pooch!) We particularly enjoyed visits to Talloires and Le Grand Bernand which are just beautiful, All in all we had a lovely stay, Sue the owner was very helpful and I would recommend the property as a home away from home in a stunning part of the world.

An Outstanding Original Property in a Convenient Location.
This is a large, very roomy, nicely restored, slightly pleasantly quirky house on three levels, that serves equally well for couples like us who like the extra space, or larger groups. It is in good condition throughout, very well equipped, with the equivalent of two bathrooms, albeit a bit distributed, and has magnificent mountain views from the main front rooms. It is located in a pleasant small village, about 2 kms from the small town of Pringy that has most of the facilities needed for a holiday, including a couple of good restaurants, and has off-road parking for at least two cars, maybe three at a push! All the main tourist centres, Lake Annecy, Mont Blanc, Grenoble, etc., are easily reachable for day trips by car. Would we stay here again, definitely!

Annecy in the summer
We had a lovely family holiday in this house. It has a wonderful view and excellent facilities for a family trip. We travelled with our three daughters aged 9 to 15, and their grandparents. We were able to find appropriate accommodation here and enjoyed the serene and stylish atmosphere of the house. Sue, the owner, is helpful and wonderfully responsive, answering queries within a few hours. The house is clearly a hit both in the summer and winter. However, a car is essential to access everything that the region has to offer. There is a very good local supermarket ( with impressive veggie options in their easy cook sections) but there is no local bakery nearer than a drive away. We enjoyed trips to Annecy and the beach at Talloires, there is a good water park 20km north and lots of activities nearby. We had a wonderful time.

Many thanks for your review and I'm delighted that you all enjoyed yourselves and were comfortable at the house. Thanks for mentioning that a car is really important if you want to make the most of this beautiful area. I'm sorry you had to drive to pick up your breakfasts. In fact (for the benefit of future guests) you don't need to - the "tabac" in the village, a few minutes walk away has a daily delivery of fresh baguettes, croissants, pains au chocolate etc. If you want to be sure of getting everything you want you can always pop in the night before with your order and they will keep your fresh breakfast for you. Something to take advantage of on your next trip, as we hope very much that you'll be back soon!

Skiing vacation in the heart of the French Alps
We travelled 9 people. It was plenty room for all guests. It is a big house with spacy rooms. The bedrooms are very cosy and gives you the feeling of being in a little castle. Also kitchen and bathrooms are absolutely perfect. Spent a lot of long evenings around the dining table. For us the location of the house was important. In this house you have the possibilities to ski in hundreds of ski resorts including the big ones as Chamonix, L la clusaz, courmayeur, Le grand bornard and so on. We all was very pleased about the stay and are very thankful for the stay. Would indeed recommend this to big families, friends and other groups.

A perfect house for our group!
We stayed at the property with a group of girl friends and had a great time. Spacious living room with a large table to accommodate the entire group at once, the same can be said for the eating area in the backyard. The bedrooms offered plenty of room for luggage and such and the beds are absolutely wonderful, which often isn't the case with rental properties. The view was great and the area was great for morning walks. The service was also very good, the owner as well as the caretaker are very friendly and were willing to meet our needs as much as possible. We had a great time, thanks again!

I'm really pleased you enjoyed some precious "girl time" at our house and particularly that you found the beds so comfortable. For me, an important part of a holiday is being able to sleep well and feel rested, so I'm glad you felt the same way (the fresh mountain air helps too). Thanks for your kind comments about our service, you're welcome! I hope you will come back and stay at La Maison de Proméry again soon.

Amazing house with view
Had a lovely week in this gorgeous house in Annecy. Unfortunately it rained a lot but made it not so bad being at the house. Annie the lady who shows you round was a lovely lady, tried really hard considering we know very little French. Would definately go back.

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted you were so happy at our house. Shame that the weather was not better for your stay! It's usually beautiful during the summer, so please do come back and visit us again, when we hope you'll be able to see the views at their best and really enjoy the lake and mountains.

How to get there
If flying, the nearest airport is Geneva (37km), less than 30 minutes by car and served by frequent flights with budget airlines like "Easy Jet" from several UK airports. There are also regular scheduled flights with British Airways, Swiss Air and other major airlines. During the ski season the number of budget flights per day and airports served increases greatly. It is also worth comparing flight options with other nearby airports, Chambery (47km) 30 minutes drive and Lyon Saint Exupery (129km away) 1 hour 13mins drive. You may find cheap flights with Ryan Air to Lyon but please be aware that this flight actually goes to St Etienne (204km away), rather than to Saint Exupery, which is a two hour drive, but may still be worth the cost saving.

Most major car rental companies have desks at these airports or can be booked online. If hiring a car from Geneva airport check that the Swiss motorway tax is included in the price. It is simpler and quicker to take the Swiss toll road, but possible to avoid it if you have hired a car from the French side of the airport.

From the Swiss side take the Route de Pre-Bois and follow signs for France.Turn left onto the Route de Vernier then take the A1/E25/E62 signed France, Geneve La Praille, Perly, Saint Julien. Cross the Swiss/French border at the "Bardonnex" customs, then take the A401 leading to the A41 towards Annecy. After 18km take exit 18 Allonzier La Caille. At the roundabout, take the third exit following signs for Pringy. Stay on this road passing through the villages of Allonzier La Caille and St Martin de Bellevue, until you come to a series of bends with a castle on your right. Shortly afterwards you will see sign that you are entering Pringy. Go straight on at the traffic lights keeping the "Chef Lieu" (the town hall, post office and church) on your left and take the next right turning signed Proméry.

From the turning to Proméry:
Go straight on at the mini roundabout with crayons on it in front of a school. At the next roundabout with an ornamental water wheel, turn left and go up into Proméry village. You will see Proméry castle on your right. Turn left at the crossroads in the center of the hamlet onto the Route de Tessy. After 100m turn right into a narrow, no through road with a field on the left hand side. This is the Chemin du Marechal and number 18 is the first house.

There is also a railway and bus station in central Annecy, 12 minutes drive from the property, with connections to the airports. From Geneva airport it is possible to get a direct bus to Pringy, please check the "Frossard autocar" website for their timetable because it may be better to take the train directly from the airport into Geneva city centre (every 10 mins) then walk 5 minutes from the railway station to the main bus station, Buses to Annecy, stopping at Pringy, run more frequently throughout the day from here. If you are not planning to visit Geneva on another day, you can always leave your luggage at the railway station for a few hours whilst you visit this luxury goods mecca with its landmark water jet, one of the highest in the world.

If traveling by car, take the ferry or Eurotunnel to Calais. there are several companies offering competitive prices, including Sea France and P&O. It takes roughly 7 hours to drive from the port, depending upon traffic. In summer most of the tourist traffic is heading for the south coast, leaving the routes towards the east and south east side of the country relatively clear. Follow the A16 then A26 l'Autoroute des Anglais towards Saint Omer, Arras, Reims, Paris. After 265 km take the A4 (E50/E46/E17 towards Lyon, Reims-Sud for 35km, then rejoin the A26/E17 for 97km, still following Lyon. Take the A5/E17 towards Mulhouse, Lyon-Dijon, carry on for 93km, then take the A31 for 74km, still heading towards Lyon and Dijon. Join the A39 and continue for 140km towards Grenoble and Geneve, then join the A40 Autoroute Blanche heading for Geneve, Milan, Lyon and Grenoble. After 74km turn right onto the E21/E62 signed Milan, Annecy, Geneve. Exit at junction 13 St Genevois, Douanes Bardonnex, Geneve Centre. Join the A41 and follow Annecy Nord and Annecy for 25km. Leave the motorway at junction 17 Annecy Nord. At the roundabout turn left onto the D14, pass the local Pringy supermarket "Marche U" then turn left at the traffic lights onto the D1201 Route de Geneve, keeping "Madigan's" pub/restaurant on your left. Continue on this road until you see the furniture shop "le Grenier Alpin" and take the next left signed Proméry. From the turning to Proméry, please follow the instructions above.
