About the neighbourhood
Uzès, 'the first duchy of France', has been a major local landmark for over 1500 years. This beautifully renovated architectural gem was designated a 'city of art and culture' in 2008. Wander through the winding medieval streets to the bustling street markets (Wednesdays and Saturdays), then stop off at one of the many outdoor cafés in the shade of 60-foot plane trees.
There is so much to discover from the Ducal Château, the stone facades of the Renaissance houses to the old cathedral with its wonderfully renovated baroque organ.
