ARTISAN'S WORKSHOP!! 17TH c. STONE WALLS AND BEAMS, with double FRENCH DOORS onto a 17TH CENTURY GARDEN COURTYARD. The old world charm combines with modern amenities, a high quality bed, a luxurious bath, and a well-equipped kitchen to make an ideal Parisian retreat. AN EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET GARDEN APARTMENT, you will forget that the center of Paris is just outside, and feel as if you are in a country cottage watching the birds out in the garden. The exceptional quiet means GOOD SLEEPING on the high quality bed that's been fit into a French antique, hand-crafted frame. RENOVATED BY A DESIGNER with international travelers in mind, the result is a successful amalgam of old world charm and modern style. The apartment consists of one big room that serves as bedroom and living area, a separate and fully equipped kitchen, and a full deluxe bath. In the main room and bath are beautiful exposed stone walls, and the original thick oak beams are exposed on the ceiling as well. DETAILS THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE. The floor has wide oak boards in the main room, with a welcoming antique killim rug, and antique stone tile in the kitchen and bath. Throughout there are clean lines and harmonious touches of color, giving a very aesthetically pleasing, peaceful ambience. QUALITY BEDDING. Hand carving graces the antique bed frame, while the bed itself is brand new and of the highest quality. For bedding, there are down and synthetic comforters, 100% cotton blankets, 100% cotton sheets, and six French pillows. The exceptional quiet of this apartment will further enhance sleep. The sofa is large and comfortable, and hides a comfortable full-sized bed should it be needed. An antique Paris bistro style table sits by the window for meals (expanding to seat four) and a wooden table serves as a small desk. WIFI -- AND LOW TECH, TOO. The high speed WiFi works flawlessly. Hidden away is a flat screen TV with more than 40 digital channels including CNN and BBC, and a DVD/CD/MP3 player with radio. There is an iPhone compatible alarm clock, a phone, and an answering machine. There are dozens of Paris guidebooks. You will also find classical, jazz, and other CD's, many DVDs (including classic Paris movies), a library of interesting books, and reading lamps. A VERY WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN, AND MORE. The kitchen has lots of charm and modern appliances: a full-size oven, four burner stovetop, built-in refrigerator with freezer, microwave, toaster, hand mixer, and coffee maker. It is also well-equipped with all utensils for cooking and eating. The bath is beautifully done with deluxe modern fixtures, a large bathtub, a deluxe shower (it's superb!), and both a washing machine and dryer tucked away in a closet. A hidden extra is a double-size hot water heater, so you should not run out. There is also a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and vacuum cleaner. All linens, towels, and soap are supplied. AN EXCEPTIONAL NEIGHBORHOOD. Steps away on the corner, you will find the wonderful open air Marche des Enfants Rouge, recently renovated but on the site of the oldest market in Paris. Rue Bretagne has its own offering of excellent shops including butchers, bakers, traiteurs, wine, fruits and vegetables, and right on the corner one of the best fromagers (cheese shops) in the city. There are also two supermarkets conveniently nearby. The neighborhood is chock-full of antique shops, funky designers, and art galleries on the narrow streets. There are many great little restaurants and cafes with terraces, as well as charming Parisian parks. IN THE CENTER OF PARIS. The Picasso Museum is literally just around the corner, as is all the rest that the Marais has to offer, from the magnificent Hotels Particuliers (17th century city mansions), many housing museums, to the famous Place des Vosges. You can easily walk to Hotel de Ville in about 15 minutes, and then Notre Dame and the other major sites along the Seine. The Pompidou Center is also right close by. There are several Metro stations nearby, and bus lines that run through the Marais. SAFE AND SECURE. The apartment is very secure: To get in the building requires both a code to get in the main door and then a key to get through an iron security gate. The door of the apartment itself has a high security lock. The windows have security blinds that close tightly over them if you want to leave for any length of time, and the windows themselves also have locks. In short, there are more security features than you need! Especially for this lovely, safe and quiet upscale neighborhood. WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO MAKE YOUR VISIT A PLEASURE! We will answer whatever questions you have before you arrive, and provide detailed instructions for getting to the apartment. The day you arrive, someone will meet you, help with your luggage, and show you into the apartment. We accommodate early arrivals and late departures. We also routinely organize taxis for the day of departure -- they come right to the door to pick you up. In the apartment, you will find loads of guidebooks, other information on Paris, and a binder full of detailed information on the apartment, the neighborhood, and more -- where the best bakery is, nearby restaurants we recommend, how to get a taxi, where to park, and so on. We are happy to help make reservations for you. If you have any problems in Paris, we'll try to help. Our goal is to help you live in the neighborhood like a local French person -- an experience you would never have in a hotel -- while minimizing hassles and maximizing your enjoyment. CANCELLATION POLICY. TripAdvisor does not offer an option that reflects our policy, which is one of the fairest you'll find. So, to make it possible, we need to select "Super Strict" which means they give the money to us, and then we'll be able to give you the benefit of our policy as reflected in our Rental Agreement, which is this: Foremost, we will happily refund 100% of any nights that we are able to re-rent! We think this is only fair. And that applies no matter when you cancel. Of course, the more time you give us, the more chance we'll have to refill the dates. Fortunately, our apartment is quite popular, so that means we generally have good luck doing so. For the dates that we are not able to refill, the amount refunded varies progressively between 90 days and 30 days in advance. That means there are no "cliff" dates to worry about that you often find elsewhere. (That is, others have policies whereby you get 50% back up until a certain date, but wait one more day and you get 0%.) Again, we think a progressively decreasing refund is more logical -- and better for you, since often cancellations are hard things to judge! You may need more time, such as to hear back from a doctor, before you can know if you need to cancel. So, this gives you the flexibility you may need. And again, it only applies for the nights we can't refill! Keywords: Vacation Garden Apartment Paris Marais - Large Studio Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: 7510303106675

A Lovely Stay
Perfect accommodations for our week long visit to Paris. Apartment was clean and cozy and had everything we needed to settle in. Great location for walking around in The Marais and plenty of close by things to see and places to shop and eat. The République Metro Station was easy to get to in order to visit further away sites. After a day in the bustling city “The Cottage” provided a restful and quiet retreat. We really appreciated how much thought and time Chris put into preparing us for logistics, and the guide to Paris etiquette was quite useful. It was perfect place for us to spend our 20th anniversary.

Great Location
This apt. was centrally located in the Marais district. There are plenty of good restaurants, bakery's, grocery stores and shops. The apt. is secure with a key pad entrance from the street and secondly there is a keyed lock you have to access to gain entrance to the courtyard, which leads to the apartment - very nice. From the apt. its a 20 minute walk to the Hotel de Ville, which you can access a batobus from the River Seine from this location to get you around. The apt. was perfect for my wife and I, but a family of 3 could manage this location - 4 people would be tight. Christopher (owns the apt.) and his staff were very nice and very helpful. The only negative or nuisance we encountered was someone who lives in that apt. complex/bldg. threw their garbage at roughly 4AM. It happened at least 3 times, while we were there (we stayed there for 2 weeks) and unfortunately; the trash cans are inside a small room right outside your front door. Bottom line Christopher has a great place and that's why this place is always booked. Its a gem.

Perfect Retreat
Tucked inside a garden, the Marais Cottage was ideal for our Paris visit. The cottage is in a great neighbor with many options for food and drink. The cottage has everything you need for comfort, cooking and relaxing. Our host Chris sets a high bar for his cottage and supplies guests with an abundance of information and resources. He is easy to contact and very responsive. Our best Paris rental yet!

Cosy Cottage in a City
I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 days in early spring in this sweet studio apartment in an internal courtyard with its exposed wood beams and thick stone walls. I can see why it's so popular and highly rated. The owner has taken care to provide an excellent range of equipment eg kitchen, washing along with tasteful decoration and comprehensive information. It's all designed to ensure a great experience. The apartment is extremely quiet so would perfectly suit those allergic to big city noise. It's not particularly light because of its courtyard position but this created a cosy atmosphere while I was there and in summer it would be lighter but remain cool on hot days. It was lovely to be able to forage in the covered market, Les Enfant Rouges which is only metres away and in the commercial street, rue de Bretagne, then return to the Cottage and cook in the well equipped kitchen. The quartier is friendly and safe with many sites of interest within easy walking distance through an old, beautiful area of Paris. Fantastic.

Stunning, tranquil haven in the heart of bustling Paris.....
After visiting Paris regularly for the past 27 years I have finally found the perfect apartment. Nestled in the heart of the Marais it is the perfect location from which to visit the glorious sights of Paris. Right next door to the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered market in Paris, you have a plethora of cafes, bars and restaurants on your doorstep. From here it is a short walk to the river Seine which in one direction takes you to Notre-Dame Cathedral and the other to the Louvre. You can cross the river to visit Île Saint-Louis or the area of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The apartment is also close to several métro stations which can take you further afield. The apartment itself is beautiful and looks onto a little courtyard with a rose garden. It is very well equipped and incredibly quiet which is remarkable as you are in the heart of the city. However, I must say that the best thing about my recent visit was the kindness of the hospitable owner Chris. Before we had even arrived he provided some fabulous suggestions of places to visit during our stay as well as making bookings at restaurants for us. His recommendations were spot on and really made our visit a most memorable one. I cannot thank him enough and will definitely be returning to this gem of a find in the heart of Paris.....!

Compact, well-thought-out and quiet ground-floor Marais retreat
This was a great find for us: a quiet, ground-floor apartment with all the necessities in the Marais. It is small - as is to be expected in this location - but well thought-out in a way that makes it very liveable. The owner has put a lot of effort into the fixtures and also into the book of the house, which is perhaps the most comprehensive we have encountered in our travels. The owner is also very approachable and helpful should any queries arise. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Perfect
This was my first trip to Paris, and it was even better than I had dreamed. A large part of that was due to this beautiful apartment in an ideal location for exploring the city. From here I was able to walk throughout Paris and explore to my heart’s content, from well known landmarks to small, local establishments. They are all within walking distance! And then to come back to this charming and private apartment just topped off each day. Even though I ate out the whole time (I absolutely loved all the intimate sidewalk cafes!), the apartment is completely equipped with anything you could need for staying in for a home-cooked meal. In addition, the owner made everything so easy and convenient and truly cared that my visit went well. I can’t wait to come back!

I'm glad we were able to help make your first visit a memorable one. I just do everything for the apartment according to the Golden Rule. It makes things easy. :) Thank you for mentioning how much is within walking distance! The apartment really is both very central, and very quiet -- a rare combination, which is why I bought it all those years ago! All the best, Chris

Location exceptional. Ground floor garden outlook secure peaceful , intimate and refined. With the treasures of the Marais virtually outside on your doorstep you will not beat this. Great value with the fitout providing everything you need to ensure a memorable stay. How fortunate for a traveler to have a host who understands the value of sharing his home to others and does it with aplomb. Take the time to read the owners discoveries of the area. About the neighbourhood
The apartment is located in the center of Paris, in the best part of the Marais. It's right near the intersection of the famous Rue Charlot and Rue de Bretagne, and right there is the well-known Marche des Enfants Rouges, the oldest open air market in Paris. Rue de Bretagne is a "market street", with bakeries, butcher shops, traiteurs, cafes, bistrots, and more, all within a stone's throw. What's more, there are two supermarkets right there, and then another all-organic supermarket nearby as well. For seeing the sites, you can easily walk to many of them -- even Notre Dame is only about a 15 minute walk! And then there are several Metro stations, as well as bus stops, right nearby to take you to everything else.
Getting around
Being in the center of Paris, you can easily walk to many sites. Notre Dame, for example, is just 15 min walk. The Picasso Museum is just around the corner, 5 min walk. The Pompidou Center is also right nearby, about 7 min walk. For things that are further away, there are no less than 8 Metro stations, all within that 15 min walk radius. The closest are 5 min. Included is the Republique station, one of the major Metro stations in Paris with 5 different lines crossing there. It's about 7 min walk. There are also several bus lines that run right nearby the apartment. All in all, getting around easy! Moreover, we provide information on how to use taxis in Paris, and we will happily reserve a taxi for you to get you to the airport.

How to get there
We will send you a detailed document for getting to the apartment, no matter where you are arriving (airport, train station, etc.).
