Location, location, location. There isn't a better location in Paris. Île Saint-Louis is a small island in the river Seine - an oasis from the rush of the city. It's almost as if someone dropped a small French village into the center of Paris. The apartment is centrally located to everything, yet quiet and tranquil. Much of what you'll want to see in Paris is a short walk away. Notre Dame is a 5 min stroll to Île de la Cité (the other island in the Seine connected by a bridge). The most popular areas on the Left Bank (Latin Quarter/Sorbonne and St Germain-dés-Près) or the Right Bank (the Marais, Louvre, and Bastille) are a 10-15 min walk away. This spacious, 2 bedroom apartment is perfect for 2 couples, a family of 4, or 4 friends who want to experience Paris like a Parisian. The owner has specifically chosen every antique piece and every work of art adorning this beautiful space. The crisp white entrance leads to the double salon with a large dining table on one side & a sitting area on the other side. Light streams into the salon from two french doors leading to balconies. Just across the hall is the den with comfortable chairs and a sofa bed for reading and watching television. (Apple TV w/ US programming available). Take a night off from going out to restaurants and cook a homemade meal. You'll be inspired by Paris' many markets and food purveyors. A boucherie (butcher), 5 boulangeries (bakeries), 3 wine shops, a fromagerie (cheese shop), and the most famous ice cream shop in France (Berthillon) are on the island. Stock the kitchen with everything you'll need to prepare an inspired meal. The hall leads to the spacious master bedroom which has a king size bed and plenty of closet space to unpack. The bathroom with tub & shower is just off the hallway, with a separate room for the toilet. Step down 1 level where there is a 2nd cozy bedroom with an ensuite shower (no toilet). This bed can be setup as a single king or two twins. The owner's attention to fine details is evident everywhere you look. There is a complete manual in the apartment with tips on where to eat and what to do in the amazing city of light. We can also help you organize numerous activities during your stay: - private tours of gardens, florists and a class on flower arranging - a private chef to prepare meals in the apartment - cooking classes - private shopping tour - a day of beauty - a day art, exploring off-the-radar small museums and galleries - wine & champagne tasting - a day at the Marché aux Puces (flea market) - and more ... Fantastique! Mervielleux!
The location can't be beat. We wandered down the street after a long day & I would make a point of hanging out by the entrance pretending it was my home. I'd wait for other tourists to come by & fiddle with my keys etc. We like to keep the windows open at night- noise level? No problem at all & I like to hear the city at night. Bedrooms (& beds) were very quiet & conducive to a good night's sleep. We went out for meals but also cooked. Kitchen was comfortable & it's easy to put a meal together with all the shops down the block. Bottom line: it's extremely comfortable & is such a great alternative to hotels. I think it's the only way to travel now. Beware you may need to get pulled out kicking & screaming- you won't want to leave I assure you.

wish we didn't have to leave
This apartment on the Ile St. Louis was a wonderful find! It was so nice every morning for the four of us to meet in the living room and share coffee and pastries, planning our day while still in our pajamas! The place was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Its location provided easy access to metro stops (Sully), St. Germain du Pres and the beautiful cathedrals of Notre Dame and San Chapelle. We were soon referring to "our apartment" on "our island". Hope we get to return and stay there again.

Phenomenal space and location!
I couldn't agree more with the other reviewers. This charming apartment has everything. It is beautiful, well appointed and in a location that can't be beat. It also has a lovely small study and includes free telephone calls to the US. I had to work a bit on the trip and it was such a relief to be able to handle conference calls so easily and from the comfort of "home." The only caveat I would add is that the bathroom adjoining the second bedroom on the lower floor is very small and minimalist (a small shower stall and electric flush toilet). My husband and I traveled with our teenage daughter and we all ended up using the larger, more spacious bathroom on the main floor. Not a problem at all for us, but be prepared if you are two couples traveling together. Other than that one caveat, I can't say enough good things about the apartment and the wonderful service we experienced. The property manager, Jenn Sigler, was incredibly responsive and helpful. We loved this property and will definitely stay here again!

Terrific location
The location is terrific, on the east end of Ile St. Louis, the more quiet end. The owner was extremely helpful and the pre-arrival instructions spot-on. There are two Metro stops a couple of hundred yards away on the Right Bank. The unit is on the 3rd floor (European), accessed by good stairs or the World's Tiniest Elevator! Best feature is the size - it is extremely spacious for a French apartment, especially in the "public" rooms. There are large living and dining rooms in front. As you move back along a corridor, first there is a TV room. Next is a well equipped kitchen, small but with dishwasher, toaster and full refrigerator - no microwave. Also, the coffee-maker is only a single-cup espresso machine, taking capsules. If you want an American sized cup, you won't easily get it. Next is a small toilet and utility closet (with iron and board). Next a room with the sink, tub and washer/dryer combo, small but effective. Last is the first bedroom. Just before that bedroom is a set of steps down to the second bedroom and bath. There are outlets throughout, LOTS of drawer space and hangars in the closets, very welcome! The beds, while soft, are comfortable. There are some inconveniences. The tiny 2nd bedroom bath, tucked under the stairs, is only a toilet and very, very small shower, no sink. I usually showered upstairs in the tub. There is a major building renovation going on two doors down, scheduled for about a year I believe, but it was not a problem. All in all, the apartment complimented and enhanced our Paris stay.

Cozy and Comfy, Wished we had another month here
Wine, bread, cheese, all at our doorstep. We were very sad to see our week come to an end. Well equipped kitchen so we could stay in or dine out. All the furnishing were very comfy, living and sleeping rooms alike.

Such a perfect spot
This spot on the Ile de la Cite, the smaller island next to Notre Dame, is just about perfect. It's at the end of the street, so it is quite close to the metro stops across the river, but there is no need for cars or people to pass through, so it's like a little private cul-de-sac. The apartment has everything -- light, charm, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, little extras like food bags for shopping. The restaurants and markets on the street have everything, too, including three ice cream stands. We have gone on several previous family vacation in Paris, but this is the first time we never needed a cab; we really could walk or take the metro everywhere we wanted to be. I wish I had inherited this apartment from a doting French grandfather, but renting it is the next best thing, if you like hotel water pressure, services, and big hallways, this isn't your place. If you like reading about WWII in your very French apartment, you'll love this place.

Beautiful apartment in incredible location
Loved this apartment, made our week in Paris extra special knowing after long day of adventuring we could come home to our haven in Ile St Louis. Everything within an easy walk, and never got tired of ducking out for another delicacy. Highly recommended!

Ideal location, outstanding service and delightful accommodations for 4
Having visited Paris on numerous occasions, I have always wanted to stay on Ile St.Louis. This lovely apartment met every expectation and MORE! As other reviews will tell you, the beds were comfy, the kitchen and laundry facilities provided efficient and cost saving ease, and the location enabled us to walk everywhere (or use the nearby Metro to get to Montmartre.) There is even an elementary school around the corner that comes alive with children coming and going, making the neighborhood feel just that...a neighborhood, not a tourist destination. Best of all, there is a very comprehensive information and guide book provided by the Owner. My sister had an incident on her flight from the USA that required medical attention upon arrival, and amazingly, the Book had the names and phone numbers of English speaking doctors! We were so grateful! We loved our week staying there.

Would stay here again. PERFECT!
We loved the location. Only 1 block from the Seine River, 1 block from train, local cafe, restaurants, grocery store. We are 4 seniors, 1 sister, 2 brothers and 1 sis-in-law. 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom, 1 shower room, 1 toilet room, so was very accommodating. Kitchen well equipped. Nice living room for gathering. Madeline was a wonderful host and very helpful with questions. She greeted us when we arrived and checked on us the night before we left. She left us a lovely bottle of wine. Linens were nice. Never ran out of hot water. Had a lift that helped to get luggage up to apartment. Very secure building. The bridge Pont de Bir-Hakeim was one block away. This is a very popular location for brides. We saw 4 brides one afternoon posing for pictures and 7 brides another day. One day a film crew was filming. Very happening bridge. The Eiffel Tower is just across the bridge. Takes about 10-15 mins to walk to ET. The Trocadero was only a 5-10 walk. Stunning view of ET from there. We even walked to the Arc De Triomphe and back. Thank you Madeline.

About the neighbourhood
This apartment is in the heart of Paris on the quaint island of Île Saint-Louis, behind Notre Dame. One of the oldest parts of Paris, the Île Saint-Louis is lined with unique shops, local restaurants and Bistros where you can enjoy the famous Bertillon ice cream. This location is great for people who enjoy a small-town/village feel & who want to walk all over the Paris center. Just cross one of the old bridges to the Left Bank to arrive at the Latin district & St. Germain-des-Près. Take the bridge to the Right Bank where you'll be in the lively Marais district. From the bridges, watch the sun set while Paris lights up & the Eiffel Tower twinkles. An unforgettable experience.
Getting around
From the apartment, it is easy to walk across one of the bridges to the Marais (right bank) or to St. Germain/Latin Quarter (left bank) Line 1 at St. Paul goes directly to the Louvre, Tuileries garden, Concorde and to the Arc de Triomphe/Champs Elysees. There are maps & tourist books in the apartment for your use. Ask your greeter to point out the nearest bread shop & Metro stop.

How to get there
From either airport (Charles de Gaule or Orly), there are taxis or Uber. There is also Le Bus Direct that goes into Paris (takes approximately 1 hour). The buses leave from the Charles de Gaulle airport to go to the Gare de Lyon (15 minute to the apartment) every 30 minutes from 6:00 am till 10:00 pm. The first bus from Paris leaves at 6:00 am and the last one at 10:30 pm. From the last bus stop, you can take the Metro. You can also take the airport train to the RER train to the Metro, but the transfers make this option difficult if you have luggage. These Metro stops are the closest to the apartment: Line 1 - St. Paul (10 minute walk to the apartment) Line 5 - Sully Morland (5 minute walk) Line 10 - Cardinal Lemoine (5 minute walk)
