This pretty, spacious cottage is set on the banks of the river Boyne, in walking distance of the beach, the championship County Louth golf course and the friendly village pub in Baltray and is just three and a half miles outside the historic town of Drogheda. Its traditional style makes for a homely, cosy atmosphere, while the extensive, open plan dining and living room creates comfortable spaces for larger groups. There is a large garden (approximately 1/2 acre) to the rear. The house fronts onto a private farm yard which, for safety reasons, is out of bounds to children and guests. The cottage is ideal for families and groups, golfing enthusiasts and nature lovers. Baltray is home to the County Louth championship links golf course which has hosted the Irish Open. Thank you for your lovely review. I was just wondering why you only gave 3 stars for such a positive response. We have received 5 star reviews pretty consistently over several sites and are always happy to receive feedback so that we can improve our guests' experience. If you would like to suggest improvements please do get in touch.

Relaxing, peaceful stay in lovely light filled cottage
We had a perfect stay in The Bunker, very relaxing and peaceful. All rooms were very spacious and comfortable, visiting children had great fun in the lovely garden which is fully enclosed. Very handy base for visiting Dublin, Belfast and all that Drogheda has to offer. Elizabeth and Inis are great hosts who communicate well. Would recommend a stay here!

How to get there
From the South: Take the M1 north to junction 8. At junction 8 take the R152 exit to Duleek. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto R152. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Platin Rd/R152. After 2kms approx turn left onto R108. 200 metres later turn right to stay on the R108 Mary's Street. At the lights at the T junction opposite Dunnes Stores turn left onto James Street R132. Get into the right hand lane and turn right at the lights onto Shop Street R167 to cross the river. Directly over the bridge turn right onto the R167 to follow the river east on North Quay. At the end there's a large entrance, turn left and then right onto the R167. Shortly afterwards you will pass a white wall on the left. Look for a thatched cottage on the right just after a sharp bend. Slow down. The Bunker is the next house on the left. You will see the gable end on the left. Pass the gable and turn in directly afterwards into a yard. Turn immediately left to park in front of the pale pink house. If you get to the turning signed right to Baltray you have gone too far. Turn back the way you came over a small stone bridge and turn right into the first entrance. The house will be on your left. Continue to the end where the road turns right before coming to a T junction. Turn left onto R167 signed to Baltray. Continue along the R167 following the north side of the river Boyne for approximately 3 miles/5kms, past the houses on the left at Queensboro overlooking the river. Pass a white wall on the left. As you get near to Baltray just around a sharp left hand bend you will see a thatched house on the right, the first house on the river side of the road since leaving Drogheda, slow down! The Bunker is the next house on the left. There is a stone garden wall and a white/pale pink gable end on your left. Enter by the farm gateway directly after the gable.
