The cottage has been totally refurbished to a very high standard and offers accommodation all on the ground floor for 6 people in 3 bedrooms; 1 double, 1 twin and a shower room at one end of the cottage and a bunk room with full size bunk beds and a bathroom at the other. There is a spacious and well equipped dining kitchen with underfloor heating. The living room has a wood burning stove and electric heater, there is comfortable seating for 6 people. All of the main rooms have picture windows offering a panoramic view of Kirkcudbright Bay towards St Mary's Isle. The enclosed garden is laid to lawn and equipped with patio furniture and portable BBQ and has views in all directions to the sea, the hills and woodland. At the rear of the property there is parking for several cars. Please be aware that the cottage is situated on a working farm and is accessed via an unmade track through a field and dogs must be kept under control. The track was resurfaced in June 2014. About the neighbourhood
Kirkcudbright has long been known as an artist town and it hosts art exhibitions and many other events throughout the season. The area is also known for its dark skies and, on a clear night, you can see a multitude of stars right outside the front door. There are lots of varied walks in the area and details of these 'Core Paths' can be found on the local government website. You don't have to drive very far to find attractions and activities. Within 10 miles you will find The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory, Cream O' Galloway Ice Cream Factory,The Wildlife Park and an Outdoor Centre. Castles, osprey hide and The Red Kite feeding station is a must. Museums, castles, gardens and attractions abound.
Getting around
A car is probably the best way to see all that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer as many of the sites are off the main highway and inaccessible by public transport.
