Mall House has been in the same family since it was built in1816 . Guests will be welcomed on arrival by the current owner. We have been welcoming guests from all over the world for more than 12 years to the apartment. For the safety of guests this property conforms with current fire regulations, fitted with smoke, heat and Co2 detectors. We have adopted the Good to Go Covid cleaning protocols to keep our guests safe. The Apartment is located near to shops and a short walk from the beach, railway station and golf courses. Now sleeping 6. We have a high chair,baby bath, and changing mat. We ask parents to bring their own travel cot. No pets.

Simply, brilliant.
Just back from a week at the Mall House, and wow! We are two ladies in our 70s who self cater at least once a month April to November and this is by far the best place we have been to! What a find. We breakfasted in the garden five mornings out of seven (the haar and rain stopped us). We felt extremely welcomed and the apartment is one of the best furnished and most comfortable we have found as people who really self cater. The apartment was warm, well lit and extremely comfortable. Located near the town centre, but a good walk to the coast it was ideal for our need. Would highly recommend.

A perfect home from home
The welcome was warm and the apartment was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. There was a handy shed where we could store our bikes and a beautiful garden to explore. Although the house is in central Montrose, with a busy road nearby, it was very quiet. It was a perfect base from which to explore the coast and hills inland. I would not hesitate to book it again.

Lovely apartment with stunning walled garden
This is a really lovely basement apartment in a 19th Century Villa in the heart of Montrose within walking/cycling distance of the beach, golf courses, Flight museum, kids water park, nature reserve, Stevenson lighthouse and several superb fish and chip shops. The apartment is a good size with ample light despite its basement position. The amenities are fabulous with good heating, two showers and a bath, dishwasher, washer machine and tumble dryer all work well. The walled garden is a fabulous addition and has a beautiful summer house ideal for reading and enjoying the garden in any weather. Margaret is a wonderful host- friendly, helpful and kind. I recommend this apartment very highly.

Very well kept, well appointed family flat

Lovely apartment with great garden and good location for exploring angus
Great location for exploring the coast and the glens of Angus. Apartment is well fitted out and cosy - everything you need. We enjoyed some peaceful reading in the walled garden. Margaret, the host, very welcoming.

Lovely accommodation in a wonderful house with an amazing garden
Lived in Montrose for a year and always passed the Mall House, admiring the wonderful setting. The apartment was generous though a bit dark. However the outsides and the warm hosting makes up for it fully. All amneties including the beach are in walking distance.

Spacious bedrooms in self contained flat close to local amenities.
This is a great property for a group. The high street is well equipped with everything you need including a large Tesco, chemist, several pubs and cafes (which serve great breakfast if you'd rather a lazy morning like us!) The beach is stunning and a short walk from the house. Fettercairn whisky distillery is a 30 minute, scenic drive. The host takes great care in looking after this historic property and will be able to point out some unique details inside the flat and architecturally if you're admiring from the beautiful gardens. Parking on site via a private drive that is set well away from the road.

Amazing self catering accomodation
I have been coming to stay at Mall House for several years now and love returning to this cosy, comfortable, quiet apartment. Sally makes one feel so welcome and she has a great eye for detail to the finer things to make one's stay enjoyable. The walled garden is really beautiful and full of delightful colour and is the most perfect place to dine and relax. The weather in my 2 weeks there was great and all meals were enjoyed in the garden. The apartment is very central to Montrose with excellent shops very close by for groceries. Particularly Nature's Garden which has a good variety of foods. Mall House is not to be missed if you are planning a stay in Montrose.

Apartment was cold and dark
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect as are the grounds. Apartment is in the basement and we found it very cold and dark although the furnishings are quite good, The apartment is set up for families with children with one double bed 2 singles and a set of bunk beds, we would have much preferred 2 double beds.

We welcome many visitors from all over the world and we were aware that you had come from a warm climate. As such we did ask you several times if you and your friend were comfortable in the apartment as it was unusually cold wet weather when you were here. Most of us locals had heating and lights on as the heavy rain fell. Our new heating system in the apartment was fitted last year and has proved most successful with our guests. We noticed that the thermostat was only set at 18 degrees during your visit which would not have been adequate for the 10 degrees outside. If you had turned it up or mentioned your problem it could have been quickly sorted. We did notice from outside the curtains were closed most of the time which would have made the apartment dark. We are very disappointed that your stay was not satisfactory but the opportunities were there to change things for you if you had just mentioned it when we asked if things were comfortable.

Perfect
First class holiday home. We stayed there over the Christmas and New Year period and could not fault it. The owner was friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we had a comfortable stay and had everything we needed. I would not hesitate in staying here again and would definitely recommend the Mall House to anyone looking to stay in the Montrose area.
