Set in the privacy of its own grounds, Pentwyn Cottage is less than five minutes walk to Pencelli village, the canal, local buses and village pub with its excellent home-cooked food and real ales. Our 20 acre small holding is a haven for wildlife and birds. Buzzards are regular visitors and can be seen from the kitchen window feeding in the adjacent field, fox and badger paths crisscross the land. Public footpaths cross the fields adjacent to the cottage and give access to the Brecon Beacons by way of the Usk Valley Walk, or to more leisurely walks along the canal towpath and the Taff Trail. Accommodation Kitchen The large kitchen, with windows on three sides giving sunshine all day, is furnished with fitted oak cupboards and a substantial antique farmhouse table and chairs. The kitchen is generously equipped with electric cooker, gas hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine. Lounge This cosy sitting room with a living flame coal effect gas fire, has comfortable sofas and chairs and a good quality sofa bed. For entertainment there is a TV, DVD, video, CD radio, Wi-Fi, books and games. Off the adjacent entrance hall there is a downstairs cloakroom with hand basin and toilet. Bedroom 1 A spacious, light and airy double bedroom boasts a Victorian brass bed and can accommodate a cot if required. Bedroom 2 A charming twin bedded room with beamed ceiling . Bathroom With the natural simplicity of clean tiles and hand made oak fitted cupboards the bathroom comprises a bath with shower, hand basin and toilet. Garden Guests can enjoy a private lawned garden to the front of the cottage, which has beautiful views and a children's swing. Sheltered under an oak framed canopy there is a seating area with a wooden table and benches, providing a splendid place to relax and watch the evening sun setting over Brecon town. We are happy to accommodate dogs, but ask owners to consider farm animals in the fields around the property. There is ample level parking adjacent to the cottage making loading and unloading very easy. For cyclists we can provide a bike washing area and secure undercover storage. For riders wishing to bring their own horses we can also provide grazing and stabling. Pentwyn Cottage Local Area Brecon, 4 miles away, is a charming and friendly market town with many interesting places to visit. There is a well-equipped leisure center, a canal side theater, a cinema, the Brecknock Museum, a Regimental Museum and cathedral. Outdoor activities in the area are plentiful with two golf courses, hill walking, cycling, climbing, pony trekking and an activity center with renowned indoor climbing facilities. Nearby Llangorse Lake offers sailing, canoeing, boating, fishing, water skiing and wind surfing. The Taff Trail cycle route from Brecon to Cardiff passes through the village and the Usk Valley Walk crosses our own adjacent fields. Pentwyn is ideally situated for visits to Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, the Gower Peninsular and the wealth of castles and attractions around Mid Wales. The canal side “Royal Oak” in Pencelli provides excellent reasonably priced home cooked food and real ales. We recommend phoning in advance to book as places are limited. Tel 01874 665396. The Sixty-Sixty bus service from Abergavenny to Brecon, Merthyr Tydfill and Cardiff passes through the village. The nearest shop is at Talybont on Usk (2 miles) where you will also find the post office and 4 pubs/restaurants. The nearest supermarket is in Breacon town (5 miles). Asda, Tesco and Waitrose will deliver to this area.

Amazing cottage
I absolutely love the cottage. It was perfect & exactly what we wanted. It was very clean, lots of room & great views all around. It's situated in a lovely village with plenty of walks and only 25 mins from the brecon beacons. There is a local pub just a 5-minute walk, and they are super friendly. I would highly recommend this cottage and we will definitely be heading back soon.

Beautiful homely cottage, fantastic views.
We stayed at Pentwyn over February half term with our three children. Pentwyn is a cosy, comfortable, clean and delightful cottage. The kids loved the swing, the tree to climb and the chickens. They loved playing in the stream at the bottom of the hill and kayaking on the canal. What a wonderful cottage with plenty to do, we even had some fresh eggs from the chickens and apple juice from the orchard. A fabulous taste of country living for us Londoners.

Perfect cottage in an idyllic setting
Stayed here with our two dogs in a very cold blustery March. The cottage was great, in a perfect location for fabulous walks and a good pub. It had a well equipped kitchen with everything you would need for your stay, home from home. It was very clean, warm, and the beds extremely comfortable. Such a lovely surprise to open the front door to such a welcoming place.

Cosy cottage in a beautiful location
We stayed at Pentwyn Cottage for 4 nights over the new year period. The cottage was beautifully clean, warm and welcoming. We took strolls along the waterways and further afield we were able to explore the hills and waterfalls. An added bonus was the ability to bring our family dog with us. We are always concerned that a place that accepts dogs may smell of pets but we needn't have worried as Pentwyn Cottage was spotless! The cottage was fully equipped with everything you might need for a short break and the fireplace in the lounge added the extra cosy feel for the evenings. I struggled to light the fire on the first night but the owner was quick to pop over and show me how to do it. The owner instructs you to bring your own towels and tea towels but it’s also worth remembering a dishcloth (we forgot) to wipe down tables and surfaces after cooking. The Brecon Beacons are a beautiful place to visit and we hope to visit again in the future.

A home from home in a picturesque rural setting.
A lovely cosy cottage with quaint windows and sloping, beamed ceilings and skylights which fascinated the children. Efficient heating and good kitchen amenities. Good sized rooms. The location within the smallholding was really enjoyable, the boys loved watching the geese and hens coming out each morning and hearing the cockerel. We even heard an owl one night. Although remote, the cottage was within easy reach of many lovely adventure rambles among rivers and waterfalls and not far from more major tourist attractions. Our one niggle was the horrendous floorboard creak through the bathroom and bedroom which disturbed everyone at night!

Sunny Hollyday in Near Brecon
