About the neighbourhood
Llangollen nestles in the valley of the river Dee and is overlooked by mountains and safe guarded by the ruins of Castell Dinas Bran. It hosts the world famous International Eisteddfod in early July each year and many other festivals - Balloon, Jazz.

There is the spectacular river Dee for white water rafting and canoeing and the canal for trips on horse-drawn narrow boats. The Pontcysyllte aqueduct the highest and longest aqueduct on the canal system was built by Thomas Telford 200 years ago, over a 1000 feet long and standing 126 feet above the river Dee. This is now a world Heritage Site. You can cross it by narrow boats which depart from The Wharf in Llangollen for a 3-hour return trip and marvel at the engineering. You can also take a horse-drawn boat from The Wharf up to near it...
Car advised
How to get there
Airport: Manchester: 70.0 km
Railway: Ruabon: 6.0 km
The nearest main airport is Manchester but guests have flown into Liverpool airport. If coming from Ireland then the ferries go into Holyhead which is 120 km from Llangollen and should take about 2 hours to drive.

Guests do not need a car as the town has much to see and do and all within walking distance. All provisions for your stay would also be available in town. Buses and taxis run from Ruabon and Chirk stations and buses go to and from Wrexham. However should you wish to see more of the spectacular scenery Wales has to offer then a car is advisable.
