A romantic retreat, a walker's paradise or just a place to chill and relax, the Old Piggery is a separate building within the garden of a C17th farmhouse. Our organic farm is within the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the views from the Old Piggery are extensive. You may see deer, hares, red kite, buzzard and certainly our Red Poll Cattle and wandering chickens. You can see the stars from here as there is almost no light pollution. Children and a dog are welcome. The accommodation is as for a studio with one large room which has a 5 foot double bed, a single sofa bed, another sofa and a dining area. There is a separate fully equipped kitchen and a shower room plus French windows which open onto the old pigsties where you can sit or dine outside overlooking the garde...A romantic retreat, a walker's paradise or just a place to chill and relax, the Old Piggery is a separate building within the garden of a C17th farmhouse. Although we are right out in the countryside, we are only 4 miles south of the A303 (main road from London to the South West), 6 miles from Shaftesbury in Dorset, 16 miles from both Stonehenge and Salisbury, 12 miles from Longleat with its mansion house and animal park and 30 miles from Bath and the south coast of England. Tisbury railway station is 3 miles (main line from London Waterloo to Exeter).More

My girlfriend and I wanted a relaxing weekend in the countryside. The Old Piggery at Cools Farm was perfect. It is a self catering outbuilding next to the main farm. It was very cosy and had character. It even had a woodburner but as we...More

We stayed at the Old Piggery just before Christmas 2013 and loved it to bits. The cottage is situated in the grounds of the farmhouse at Cools Farm, which is miles from anywhere. Just views of rolling countryside, woods and wildlife all around. The cottage...More

About the neighbourhood
Cools Farm is in beautiful countryside on the Wiltshire / Dorset border. A working farm with British rare breed Red Poll cattle and roaming chickens, it offers you a chance to experience rural life in a safe, comfortable environment. Fantastic walks all around, bicycle routes, farm tour, trout fishing in our private lake (at extra cost) are all available on site. Further afield are the village of Tisbury (3 miles) where you can still shop in an old fashioned High Street with butcher, greengrocer, delicatessen, cobbler, gift shops, small supermarket and Beatons Tea Shop.
How to get there
Travel from London via A303 past Stonehenge. The A350 towards Shaftesbury and Poole. Left at traffic lights to HINDON on B3089. Right at The Lamb pub, down tree lined main street, turn right at the bottom (just past a playground). Carry on up and down hills through woods for 1.8 miles exactly. Turn right at the signpost and Cools Farm is just down the road. Admire the view! Don't rely on satellite systems to get you here. Some don't work as there are only 2 properties at this postcode. We are NOT the white house! Directions to Cools Farm, SP3 6DB From North, East and West Go to HINDON which is on the B3089 At the crossroads by the Lamb Inn, go down the tree lined street At the bottom, just past a small playground, turn RIGHT Carry on for 1.8 miles up and down through woods.
