Excellent stay
My husband and I stayed at the apartment for 2 nights, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the apartment is really comfortable, has everything you need and is within an easy walking distance to town. I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to family and friends and would definitely stay here again. Barbara and Steve have really thought of everything with this place, we were sad to leave!

Beautifully designed flat
I found Barbara and Steve's flat by chance and am so glad I did. Their house is within walking distance of central Shrewsbury - a good walk, but an interesting one. There is a bus-stop near their house, though I did not try it. They have remodelled their Victorian house so that the Studio has its own entrance and stairs. Inside, it is beautifully-designed, harmonious, simple and tasteful, with many interesting books and pictures, and is perhaps the best-equipped holiday rental I have ever stayed in. There is space to spread out your things, it is quiet, and you can park the car. The shelves are equipped with lots of guides and suggestions for visits in and outside Shrewsbury and Barbara and Steve themselves are welcoming and friendly. I would visit again.

The perfect flat for a trip to Shrewsbury.
The flat is within easy walking distance of the centre of Shrewsbury, which is well worth a visit. The owners of the flat have thought of everything to make the stay comfortable. There is a well equipped kitchen, a superb bathroom and a lovely bedroom. We liked the thoughtful little touches, like a pint of milk in the fridge and a fresh sourdough loaf. Overall, this flat is thoroughly recommended.

Lovely flat, great location
Wonderful, spotlessly clean flat in a great, quiet location with all modern conveniences. A pleasant 15 minute walk takes you right into Shrewsbury town center with its array of shops and restaurants. A welcoming and lovely home away from home in a delightful spot!

Really nice apartment
The apartment was spotless, modern and comfortable. The welcome food pack was particularly welcome as it saved us from rushing out. Kitchen and bathroom were in as new condition and fully equipped. The town centre was a 10 - 15 minute walk across the river, an interesting walk. For trips, car parking was available at the front door. Our hosts were pleasant an helpful. We were totally satisfied with our lovely stay.

British hospitality at its best
Our two week stay in Barbara and Steve’s apartment was without a doubt the most pleasant accommodation we have ever booked. From the onset our booking process was seamless. We have never spent time in Shropshire County and were drawn to this area after watching Escape to the Country. Barbara answered our endless questions so quickly and offered many helpful tips about the area. Shrewsbury is a perfect town from which to explore this county. We did not hire a car and found public transportation readily available for day tripping. There is a bus stop right outside the apartment. It’s an easy and pleasant walk to the city center or you can hop on the bus. We had researched information about the town and county so we did not lack activities to keep us occupied. Our favorite day trips were to Ludlow , Iron Bridge and Whitchurch, all offering lovely walks and great foodie stops. In fact we needed more time; this area is a gem. Also there are many books and materials in the apartment ready to peruse so you can plan your days. As for the apartment you couldn’t ask for a more comfortable accommodation. It is on the second floor and there is a place to hang your jackets and store hiking boots as you enter. The rooms are bright and airy and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen is so well equipped so we had everything on hand for the many meals we prepared. Many supermarkets are close by and we purchased excellent meats at a butcher recommended by Barbara. I suggest you read the instructions for the oven and cooktop as it is a convention unit and we were not familiar with this stove type. But all instructions and other information are in a apartment notebook so we didn’t have to pester our “landlord”. The bed was comfy and covered with very nice sheets and duvets. Barbara wrote before we arrived and asked if we wanted two separate duvets or one to share. Where else would you get that treatment. The bathroom was perfect, plenty of water pressure and hot water. The living room is perfect for two and the television has every channel you could want plus Netflix, how generous! Barbara and Steve get VERY high marks from us. It was comforting to have the apartment owners handy by if we had any questions but they thought of everything in order to make their “visitors”welcomed and comfortable. Definitely worth staying here for a few nights or an extended stay. And it’s so much more pleasant returning to an apartment after a day’s outing than staying in a hotel. We felt right at home! You’re the best! Thank you thank you thank you . Roxanne and Brian Portsmouth, NH USA

Beautiful space - perfect holiday home
I LOVED my stay here. It really is perfect, clean, airy and light, with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. Barbara and Steve have an attention for detail that is rare, and they've created something very endearing and enjoyable. Getting there was really straightforward. I arrived by train, so simply walked through town to the greyfriars footbridge, turned right, and the house is on the right after about half a mile. There are plenty of ways from the house back into town, and there are two fantastic pubs about half a mile in each direction, The Crown nearest town and The Red Barn away from town. There are little local shops, and about a mile away is Meole Brace shopping, with the usual Sainsbury's, M&S, TK Maxx etc. About 15 minutes on foot gets you anywhere you want to go. Best of all is being less than 10 minutes away from the riverside, where I did lots of walking, some running, reading and picnicking. As the river runs in a loop around the town, you can get to the theatre, shopping, abbey, museum very easily, and being just outside of town, it's quiet. Very quiet. Just what I needed! The apartment itself has some great touches. To be honest, it makes my own home feel pretty grubby and disorganised. The shoe rack and hooks just inside the front door mean you're out of your outdoor wear immediately when you get in, and there's a spare brolly if you need it too for going out. There's a great feeling of somewhere that you live in, with plenty of bookshelves with everything from local travel books to cook books, literature and fiction. The kitchen is well equipped (yes, I did some cooking!) and the little touches like a good quality iron, washer/drier and a linen basket and laundry basket really make a difference. No "I'll use the bottom drawer/suitcase for my dirty socks". A place for everything. I was out-and-about most of my time in Shrewsbury, but sat and watched a movie one late evening, and having a good smart TV (hook into Netflix or Amazon Prime Movies and Spotify!) and a comfy two-seater made relaxing a dawdle. It's a superb space. The bathroom is spacious and has an amazing power shower, and lots of little bits'n'bobs of toiletries so you can get a shower when you arrive without heading out to the shops. I was left a pint of milk and some lovely crusty bread, and got to meet Barbara and Steve who are simply awesome, very friendly, and I got some really useful tips on places to go. If you visit this apartment, take them up on their offer of "local guide" if you're unsure of what to see and do. This was my first holiday by myself for 12 or 13 years, and I simply loved every minute of it, but the apartment made the stay relaxing, effortless and highly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

First class stay in a perfect apartment
My husband and I had a fabulous stay in Shrewsbury due in large part to the excellent accommodation we stayed in. Barbara and Steve have created a very well designed and tastefully decorated apartment with all the comforts you could need for a holiday. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a real luxury! An easy 10 minute walk into town meant exploring all that Shrewsbury has to offer was convenient. There is no shortage of places to eat and there are plenty of shops to visit alongside all the medieval buildings and streets. We enjoyed trips out to Powis Castle, Ironbridge and Attingham Hall and Much Wenlock was a delightful little town. We would heartily recommend this flat for a holiday stay if you can find a free date. It is rightly a very popular rental property

Very comfortable apartment
The apartment is very comfortable- it is really light and airy. Situated just a short (10 minute) walk from the town centre, it is really convenient. There are also good rail and road links should you wish to travel further afield. Barbara & Steve are very good hosts - always on hand if you have any queries. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

About the neighbourhood
Leafy residential area of Shrewsbury with small shops just down the road. Bus stop into town two doors away and return stop across the road. Town is only 10 min walk across the river.
Getting around
Most people park their car and then walk to town. Other surrounding towns such as Ludlow,Church Stretton, Chester and a lot of Wales can all be reached by train. Otherwise the rolling hills of Shropshire are a delight to drive around with little villages and pubs along the way.

How to get there
From either Birmingham or Manchester airports there is a train link to Shrewsbury and we are a 20 min walk from the station. If you take a taxi please be sure to emphasise the G in Longden Rd as there are other streets with similar sounding names.
