However we're still taking bookings for 2021, so hope to see you then Due to the Covid-19 we have revised our cleaning protocol to include deep cleaning with professional standard cleaning materials, quarantining bedding and soft furnishings between guests and allowing a minimum 48 hour changeover. Full details will be sent on booking. Woodside Lodge is an award winning luxury 5 star Gold self-catering holiday cottage for 2 near Hexham and Corbridge, Northumberland. Nestled in the gardens of an 18th century cottage, five miles south of Hexham, with far reaching views over pastureland towards Slaley Forest and the North Pennines, it provides a peaceful and contemporary retreat ideally situated for exploring the world heritage site of Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Water and Forest Park, and the Northumberland Heritage coast. The spectacular landscape of the North Pennines AONB is to the south west, and the bright lights of Newcastle and Gateshead are twenty miles east. The half vaulted living space has a light and airy sitting area with a leather sofa, flat screen television with Freesat, contemporary fireplace, DVD player and ipod dock. Wide bi fold doors lead on to the terrace, with far reaching views over pasture and woodland. The granite topped kitchen/diner is fully equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer dryer, and a comprehensive range of kitchen utensils. The bedroom is stylishly furnished with a super king size bed which can be made up as two singles on request, oak wardrobe and side tables. Non allergenic duvets and pillows and pure cotton bed linen add to the experience. The adjoining fully tiled shower room has a large walk in shower, wash hand basin and loo. Outside there is a large decked area with a table and chairs, parasol, barbeque, and planters. Here you can sit and enjoy the tranquil views over farmland, and watch the birdlife - in spring the curlews and lapwings gathering on the meadow, while in the summer the swallows swoop and dive over the grass, and buzzards soar lazily over the woodland. A separate lockable dry storage area is available for bulky items such as walking gear, bicycles etc. A welcome pack, loo paper, cleaning products, tea, coffee, milk, sugar & biscuits, and complimentary toiletries are included • NE England Tourism Award 2016 for Best Self Catering Property. • Northumberland Tourism Silver Award for Best Self Catering Property • Visit England 5 star Gold Award. • Level 1 Mobility accreditation – for older or less mobile guests • Cyclists welcome; walkers welcome • Stay and Gaze dark sky award More

About the neighbourhood
Woodside Lodge is situated in beautiful countryside five miles south of Hexham, with its fine abbey, vibrant arts scene, Old Gaol and market, and recently included in the Sunday Times' list of the 'top ten best places to live in the UK'. We are within easy reach of the major attractions of Northumberland such as Hadrian's Wall, the National Park and the coast, while the North Pennines AONB is on our doorstep. There are amazing walks all around the area and full details and guidance is available in the Lodge. The villages of Allendale, Blanchland and Corbridge, the last with its ancient stone streets, tempting independent shops, cafes and galleries, are all close by, and Hadrian’s Wall is only half an hour's drive away.
Getting around
Your own transport is essential when staying at Woodside Lodge, whether car, motor bike, or bike. Electric bikes can be rented nearby, and for a min 24 rental can be delivered FOC to the Lodge. Buses run regularly from Hexham, including the AD122 Hadrian's Wall bus, which runs hourly during the summer months. Trains run to Newcastle and Carlisle and all stops inbetween.
