This cottage was built around 1640 and was home to a large, Whitby fishing family through to the early 19th century. The cottage was modernised in the mid 1990s when it was at risk of being demolished due to disrepair. Nowadays it is a fully renovated and comfortable self catering holiday home that ticks all the boxes for location, proximity to the harbour, private walled patio area and situated in the centre of the old cobbled area of Whitby's 'old town'. The property is warm and comfortable throughout.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad that you liked our location down by the harbour in the old side of town. In our eyes, the best side of town. Much more history here. You're welcome back anytime - thanks for booking with us.

Excellent Stay
Stayed here for a long weekend, 4 adults, and had a fabulous time. The cottage is so well equipped and very family friendly. A lanyard is available to use at the Rowing Club and get £1 off every drink and they now have a beer garden which was lovely on our way back to the cottage for a drink. The cottage is so central for everything you want in Whitby and only a few steps from the little beach. We will be booking again soon.

Maybe it’s good for summer but don’t visit in the winter
Sorry but I’m afraid that I’m going to have to disagree with almost every review on here. Maybe it was the time of year we visited, maybe we’ve just been extra lucky with cottages (mainly Cornish ones), we’ve visited before. Yes, it’s a great location, it’s clean, the owner is friendly but in short, I’d say it was dark, dingy and dated. I think the main thing for me was the heating is literally under lock and key. The heating controls are in a padlocked, Perspex box on the wall. It just feels mean. We visited in a cold January. The heating is set to come on at 6:30pm and you can do nothing to change this. We came back after a day out and had to suffer a couple of hours with no heating until it came on. We got ready in the cold and left for dinner just as the heating came on. We stayed one cold night and left the next day. Other mean behaviour - if you want to use the washing machine, it’s coin operated. As a couple, it wouldn’t matter for us but for a family this could get expensive. Like I said, location and cleanliness is great but we came away feeling like exploited tourists, not welcome guests.

Thank you for your review. It is slightly at odds with most others we're sorry to say. The central heating is on for a full 12 hours per day and we did mention previously that the washing machine is there ONLY as a 'convenience'. It's just to save guests from having to go to a laundrette. We know people don't go on holiday to wash clothes so it could never be expensive! The cottage also is light and airy, not dark and dingy so that comment actually surprised us! Our prices do show that we don't come anywhere close to exploiting our guests as you say but we are sorry to hear that on this occasion you didn't enjoy your stay.
