Nearest tube stations are Russell Square (6 min walk) and Chancery Lane (7 mins), but you'll often find it as quick to walk to many of the main attractions. The British Museum is a 10 min walk and Charles Dickens' House (he wrote Oliver Twist here), is 1 minute away. London's West End with its fabulous shopping (Oxford St, Regent St), theatres, art galleries and landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben) is close by. Covent Garden with its street theatre, opera house and shopping Piazza is an easy walk. Heading East, you can stroll around the City of London, Europe's financial centre with its famous buildings (St Paul's Cathedral, the Gherkin, Tower of London, Wren c... Read more

Interaction with guests
I will send you directions to the apartment when you book. Please let me know at which of London's five airports or which station you arrive at. If you arrive during office hours, either I or one of my team will be in the building to meet you, show you upstairs to the apartment, hand over two sets of keys and answer any questions you might have. I have a key safe box if you arrive at the weekend or after 6pm.

Our office is on the ground floor of the building and you can drop in to ask a question or report an issue at any time. I will not visit the apartment unless there is an urgent problem.

There is a folder of local information inside the apartment which can be emailed to you before you arrive, if you would like to start planning.

The rooms are quite spacious, as the title says. The street is pretty quiet, and the flat itself is very quiet because it's the only one in the building. Nice central location. The closest tube stops are .5 mile away so we just rode buses everywhere, which is cheaper, less stressful and more scenic anyway.

Management response:

Thank you for taking the time to review our Bloomsbury flat. It is a good point that if you stay in central London, you can largely avoid the tube (London's subway/metro) and walk or take buses. You do see more of London and you can really start to get to know this glorious city. Thanks again!

Everyone has his/her own reasons for opting to rent an apartment/flat instead of staying in a hotel and sheer economy and convenience top the list in most cases. When my husband and I chose to travel with two younger female friends, we knew all of us would like privacy but also common spaces where we could gather to eat, share...

I'm torn between a 3 vs 4 bubble rating, but I highlight the positive and not great aspects. Booking was easy, and the owner/manager was quick to answer any of our questions. They provided great directions on how to arrive from the airport to the apartment. They are located in the same building so it was nice to be received...

Management response:

Following this review, we installed new kit to boost the wifi. Fast and free wifi is now available in every room of the building. London is 35 miles wide and while most of the attractions are in the centre, there is no one perfect district in which to stay where everything is within a 20 minute walk. Take, for example,...

About the neighbourhood
There are lots of restaurants and cafes within a ten minute walk of the apartment to suit all budgets and tastes. Or you can walk east to the off-beat district of Clerkenwell (stop and look at the medieval St Johns Gate) where there are many more restaurants plus quirky shops in Exmouth Market. Further east takes you to uber-trendy Shoreditch and Hoxton to clubland, art happenings and shopping in Shoreditch BoxPark. On a fine day a walk by the River Thames can offer great views of London; from St Pauls Cathedral you can cross the Millennium Bridge and along the South Bank take in Shakespeares Globe Theatre, Tate Modern art gallery, a second hand book market, the National Theatre, Festival Hall, London Eye and Lambeth Palace. Then you are at Westminster Bridge, so view the Houses of Parliam... more
Getting around
The nearest tube (metro or subway) stations are Russell Square (Piccadilly line which runs direct to Heathrow Airport) and Chancery Lane (Central line). There are several bus routes running from the bus stop at the end of John Street.

St Pancras International Station and Kings Cross Station are a 15-20 minute walk away or a short bus (routes 17, 45 or 46 from Grays Inn Road) or taxi ride. As it is only one stop on the tube, it is generally quicker to walk than take the tube.
Car not needed
How to get there
Airport: London Heathrow Airport: 29.0 km
Railway: St Pancras International: 1.0 km
Ferry: Dover: 110.0 km
The apartment is one hour away from the airports of London Heathrow, Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and City Airport. It is a fifteen minute walk (5 mins in a taxi) from Kings Cross Station and St Pancras International Station which has Eurostar services to Paris, Lille, Brussels, Avignon and beyond. Euston Station is 20 mins walk. Waterloo, Paddington and London Bridge stations are a short bus/tube (subway) ride or a 15 minute taxi journey.

It is a 7 minute walk from Russell Square (Piccadilly tube line) or Chancery Lane (Central line) tube stations. Please try not to bring a car as parking in Central London is dreadful.
