Swangs Cottage
We had a lovely week in the lakes walking etc. The cottage was of ample size and the beds comfortable, good WiFi and TV signal. It had everything sufficient for our needs (we couldn't get the dryer to work on washing machine though.. no instructions obvious or washing powder, which would have helped. There was a welcome bottle of wine which was much needed after a very late arrival. Overall, the cottage felt a little tired and would benefit with some tlc (cleaning and decorating). Great views towards Coniston Old Man though. In all ..perhaps a little expensive for what it was.

Thanks for your comments. The instructions for all appliances are in the instructions folder which are left with the welcome pack folder and wine. Unfortunately our price to guests is increased by 20+% when booked through Trip Advisor, making it much more expensive than booking direct. We do try to minimise our price through this channel accordingly.

Peace and tranquillity
Just back from a week in Swangs Cottage. It’s well equipped and comfy, has an enclosed rear garden that’s perfect for dogs. The views both back and front are amazing, what a landscape, we did enjoy sitting out the front of the cottage on the little patio area housing a table and chairs, watching the sun set. It’s so well placed too, easy access to the Royal Oak (just down the road about 2mins by car). Sadly the Farmers Arms was closed, but as the main road is so close it was no problem to drive a tad further. Our favourite place was the Manor House at Oxen Park, the steak burgers are a must try. I did fell guilty however when the herd of highland cattle in the field behind the cottage said hello! They popped their huge heads on the wall, there is wire there to prevent them eating the lovely cottage flowers. There were several mothers and calves, just adorable. It was lovely to have their company and to wake up in the morning and see them out of the window, a real treat. The immediate (human) neighbours on both sides were lovely, it was nice to chat and find out about the area. The parking is right outside the front garden wall, so easy. Would definitely recommend Swangs, the owner is easily contacted and answered any questions pre stay promptly. A bottle of wine was left for us on arrival. Swangs is very comfortable for two, although it’s two bedrooms so can accommodate four. It was a real change for us from our city life, a haven of peace and tranquillity, we will miss it!

Lovely week in cottage. Very well equiped & comfy. Only issue was low wood beam in lounge which husband had to remember to duck under! Thank you Steve for red wine on arrival. Will certainly recommend this cottage.

Perfect Base
We had a lovely week here with the dogs. The cottage is in a great location, overlooking Coniston Old Man, with Highland Cattle grazing in the fields behind. Handy for everything we wanted to do. The owners have thought of everything you might possibly need. It’s very homely and comfortable. Steve was unbelievably helpful, he responded immediately to any question in a friendly way. Only minor disappointment was that the pub nearby had been flooded and closed when we were there, not that it was a massive issue. We tried several of the places that Steve recommends in one of his extensive information folders and were never disappointed. There’s also loads of pamphlets in the bookcase, spoiled for choice with things to do. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, even the neighbours are great. Wish we had booked two weeks!

Cosy home-from-home in beautiful location
Just home from fabulous week in Swangs. Great location to explore the countless activities, sights and adventures the South Lakes has to offer. Cottage was super cosy even in the chilly weather and a great base to return to after a day spent exploring. Just 25mins from Grizedale, Coniston and Windermere. Local pub, shop and chippy all excellent, as is Booths in nearby Ulveston. Will definitely be back 💙

A perfectly charming base for the Lakes
Just back from a week at Swangs with our daughter and 2 dogs. The cottage is kitted with everything you need to relax, including some really comfortable beds. No matter what the weather we loved it as a base to come back to from a day exploring the Lakes. Cosy when it was drizzly. Picturesque garden to laze in when sunny. All topped off with glorious views from every window. Would 100% book again. Enjoy!

A fantastic stay
This cottage was so cosy and in such a beautiful, convenient location. It had all we could need, plus the lovely touch of a bottle of wine left for us. We stayed with our 2 dogs, and there was a quaint little cottage garden for them to roam around in, plus the added bonus of some gorgeous Highland cattle to watch in the field next door. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a wonderful stay with the added bonus of being within a good driving distance of the lakes and Beatrix Potter’s house etc. The owners of this cottage have clearly thought about all their clients needs.

Thanks for your kind comments and for taking the time to tell us about the temporary wifi issue which meant it wasn't a surprise to us or the next guests and we could inform them that the network name and password had defaulted back to factory settings. So happy you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again some day. Steve

Swangs Cottage
We have just returned from 6 lovely days in this beautiful cottage. With four adults and 3 dogs it had everything we needed, the decor and furnishings were to a very high standard, and the kitchen equipment was surprisingly comprehensive, great for four keen cooks. The location of the cottage was a great base for six very different but beautiful walks including beaches, woodland, river and moorland walks, Coniston is very unspoilt and peaceful. We took the time for a trip to the Esk with a stunning river walk and a ride on the narrow gauge steam train back which was delightful. The drive was just under an hour but itself through stunning landscapes. The two pubs within walking distance both served great food and were very welcoming to all, including the dogs. Overall loved the house and the walled garden with added entertainment to the dogs of the cattle in the neighbouring field ! We will definitely return.
