Tranquility in the Lake District
Badgers Den is the smallest of four cottages on the working Linskeldfield Farm, but perfect for couples. Oh, and don’t let the fact it’s a working farm put you off. It’s as peaceful as you would want, but gives you great access to the entire Lake District although you will need a car. Marion is a great and friendly host who welcomes you with a smile and a few surprises waiting for you in the cottage upon arrival. There’s also a “shop” on the farm where you can buy fresh eggs, bacon and butter amongst other things. All you do is leave payment in the honesty box whenever you buy something. Definitely try the eggs and marvel at the number of double yolkers you will surely get. The farm also has its own tarn overlooking its a lake, plus some aviaries with a variety of birds and a games room for a bit of entertainment should you need it. There’s also a laundry room should laundry be your idea of a holiday! The cottage itself was spacious and spotlessly clean with a huge double bed (can be configured as a twin), a wet room and an open plan kitchen/sitting/dining area. Although not our original intention, my wife and I felt so at home and relaxed that we cooked in the cottage every evening bar one after returning from our Lake District explorations. Linskeldfield Farm and Badgers Den was a chance find, but I’ve no doubt we will be back again. Indeed, it looks like they have a number of returning guest looking at the comments in the visitors book. I can only think of one reason not to recommend a stay here; it might make it more popular and hence more difficult to book when we return in the future.

Lovely! So comfortable!
Had a lovely time staying at Badger's Den near Cockermouth. Quite a good base for lovely Lake District walks and some brilliant restaurants in Cockermouth! The arm chairs and bed in Badger's Den were SO comfy we all slept like logs! (See pics of dog particularly enjoying lovely comfy armchairs!!) Wet room was also good with a decent shower. Lovely to arrive to some fresh eggs and a nice little treat from the Easter bunny! Not that it was needed - but tv just really didn't work with lack of signal, and the wifi was painfully slow-not working; so plan your walks etc ahead!

Badgers den delight!
We absolutely loved our stay! We were so well looked after, a treat left out for the dog, double yoked eggs for the people. The accommodation was well equipt and absolutely spotless. Make sure you ask for the spa passes, the hot tub on the balcony is something else! And if you're there on a Tuesday buy your tea from the butcher who visits in his van. Can't be positive enough! We'll be back.

Ideal for disabled visitors and/or those with dogs!
I was truly amazed with this beautiful cottage. The welcome we were given was very good, and the owners Pauline and Marion went out of their way to help us. The welcoming basket was a joy! Home made bread, jam and a flapjack bigger than I have seen before! With home produced honey, freshly laid eggs - double yolks! and butter!. The dogs were also very well looked after with two bowls each, on stands and mats, towels, poo bags and treats each! My daughter is profoundly disabled and we took a chance here as their accessibility statement does not cover wheelchairs but we couldn't have hoped for better! They provided a ramp up the two steps into the cottage and when I realised that my hoist would not go under the bed they built two plinths and lifted the bed!!! The views from the cottage are wonderful, Cumbria at its best. Although this seems out of the way and very peaceful, and it is, it is also within easy driving of many places to visit. Best of both worlds! We will be going back again!! Thank you

Great Location, Smart accommodation
The location of the property is set within beautiful countryside not far from the town of Cockermouth. The cottage itself was clean, modern and comfy. It had ample amenities and access to a games room for leisure. The owners were friendly and helpful, and we were made to feel welcome. Pets are allowed and they have facilities for them (such as an outdoor shower for dogs etc). The only thing that wasn't so good were the directions found on the TripAdvisor website as these do not make it clear where to go. The actual website directions for the cottage provide good and clear instructions of how to find your way there. Overall a pleasant stay and we would happily go there again.

best place we have stayed
My wife and I stayed at this cottage from the 16th to the 23rd of may 2015. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well presented. The owner Pauline and daughter Marion gave us a really warm welcome. On entering the cottage there was other than the usual coffee and tea etc:- but also a home made loaf and half a dozen fresh eggs. We would definitely recommend this family run holiday to anyone who wants a quiet getaway from the rat race. To contact look on the web you will not be disappointed.

About the neighbourhood
Cockermouth Set at the confluence of the rivers Cocker and Derwent, Cockermouth is a quaint market town, which although dates back to medieval era the main period of growth was during the Georgian period of the early eighteenth century. The town is eight miles north-west of Keswick hosts a number galleries, river walks and places of historical interest. Cockermouth is the birth place of poet William Wordsworth. This gem of a town with ample galleries, river walks and historic Cockermouth Castle. Lots of pubs, specialist shopping and restaurants. Close to Bassenthwaite Lake there are so many other things to do and see in Cockermouth, making it the perfect family location. Cockermouth also does not suffer overcrowding of some of the more central Lake District towns. An interesting way to explore the town is the Cockermouth Trail. The trail takes you around a fascinating walk through the town's history, exploring nineteen of the famous landmarks and some lesser known landmarks of the town. Maps can be obtained from the Tourist Information Center. The River Derwent flows behind the Main Street and Wordsworth House. There are pleasant footpaths and seats along the banks of the make for a delightful walk along the river. There is also a large car park next to the river with access into the Memorial Gardens and over the bridge into the Main Street. The river can be flowed into the brewery and then into Market Place. In addition to the galleries and places of historical interest the town has a range of traditional stores and some more popular national stores. The town also has a large number of bars and restaurants, many of which are located on the newly re-developed Market Place and Main Street. As the main period of growth for Cockermouth was during the Georgian period much of the road layout and buildings were developed during this time; with a great number of buildings retaining their original features, each year to celebrate the Gorgian influence, the town holds a Georgian Fair. Cockermouth has a number of popular visitor attractions such as: Wordsworth House, The Sheep and Wool Centre, the Castlegate House Gallery, the Kirkgate Centre and Jennings Brewery; which produces 'real ale' and has been located in the town centre since 1828. Visitors can also take a guided tour of the brewing facilities and discover more information about this 175 year old process and even sample and take home the finished product from their on-site shop. All of this makes Cockermouth the ideal place for both a quite and relaxing break and a hectic sight-seeing holiday.
