Lilac Cottage is a wonderful 2-bedroomed Cotswold cottage dating from the 1830's, rated 4* by Visit England. As owners, we do not live in the area but our housekeeper is local, experienced, friendly and on hand should you have any issues, which we hope you will not. So your privacy during your stay is ensured. You will be able to access the cottage any time after 4 pm on your arrival day by means of the keys which you will find in the key safe, giving you flexibility for your arrival. There is detailed information in our Guest Information Folder for your stay. Should you need any assistance then we are only a phone call away and always happy to help.

This cottage was a perfect find. Cozy, quaint and in a perfect location close to town. Beds were comfy and appreciated by a weary family that had taken an overnight flight from the US. The Wisteria in bloom everywhere was breathtaking.

Well situated, with an added bonus of a secluded garden. Well equipped kitchen. It is a perfect place to base yourselves and explore the Cotswolds. Overall, a great cottage and with a little more attention to the cleanliness, this would be the perfect retreat.

Prices include all linens (beds, kitchen, towels) gas, electricity, complementary WiFi, welcome tray, store cupboard essentials, telephone landline and strongbox. We also provide washing up liquid and cloths, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls and hand wash. A basket of logs is also provided for the fire.
Children are welcome at Lilac Cottage, but we are unable to accept pets.

About the neighbourhood
Stow-on-the-Wold is different from most Cotswold towns in that it is built around a Market Square which is ideal for wandering around the antique, gift and clothes shops, restaurants, tea shops, pubs (some with local beers). The market cross commemorates the role Stow played in the English Civil War, in which the parish church of St Edward's also played its part. St Edward's Hall in the Square regularly hosts events such as craft & antique fairs.

There are traditional independent shops such as a bakery, butcher, delicatessens and my personal favourite - the Cotswold Chocolate Shop where you can watch chocolate being made. There is also a late shop in the square and a 24-hour supermarket just on the outskirts.

The Cotswolds are at the heart of the British Rail network with main line trains to the Cotswolds from London, the Midlands and the North and the South West of England. The nearest mainline railway stations are in Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham and Cheltenham. Moreton-in-Marsh: provides direct services to Oxford and London Paddington.

Stow on the Wold is well linked to the wider Cotswolds through local bus routes to amongst others:
