A real home from home
The house is stunningly beautiful and really well placed for anything one would want.
The Old Vicarage was so full of character and seemed to go on forever. Very unusually for Looe in the old town, the house has it's own private yard, perfect for drying out beach things, or just enjoying breakfast in the sun!

Amazing accommodation
Beautiful and very spacious cottage in Looe, we have gone there for many years and it is probably the nicest and most well equipped place we have stayed in, amazing.

Wonderful
One of the best self-catering accommodations available in Looe (we’ve tried a lot).
Recently decorated to a very high standard (or maintained very well), equipped with everything you could possibly need (even a pro chef would be happy with the range), solid floors and stairs (not always a given in the older Looe houses). Some low ceilings in connecting halls, but the rooms are all a comfortable height. Sleeps 8, and there is actually plenty of reception area for that number too, dining table is incredible (many a game of Monopoly played on it). The beds were top quality, as were the mattresses and linen, which meant we all slept like babies.
I have an eye for detail, and I genuinely couldn’t see a single corner cut, or anything where the quality wasn’t the same as you’d pick for your own home.
Needless to say the location was top notch, perfect for our group some of whom had mobility issues, so regular pit stops during the day helped. You’re 2 mins from the beach, 1 min from the quay and 20 seconds from a pub (who are very respectful about noise).
We’re so happy to have found The Old Vicarage and certainly wouldn’t want to stay anywhere in Looe now.
Thank you Claire!

Amazing holiday home, fantastic location
Staying at the Old Vicarage was great, we had a brilliant time as its so close to the old town and the beach (less than a minute to both!) the beds were so comfortable and rooms cool, we all slept really well. Everything was great and any issues (which were all small) were sorted out quickly. It was a brilliant holiday and we really enjoyed our time. Would have been amazing to use the outside space more but the cushions were being mended due to inconsiderate previous guests.

Family holiday
3 Generations of my family had a most delightful holiday at the Old Vicarage in Looe. The house was spacious, very clean and charming. The beach was 1 minutes walk away and many top quality restaurants within 5 minutes walk.
It is very unusual to find a top quality house in such a perfect location.

A fantastic stay
We stayed at here in early September and had a fantastic time. We could not fault the property, it was very spacious and everything had been thought of down to the last detail. We were slightly nervous about staying at a holiday cottage because of the Coronavirus pandemic but the cottage was spotless and had been deep cleaned prior to our arrival. The location was great; a stones throw from the beach and Looe harbour and high street. We also found claire to be a great hostess sending lots of information on nearby eateries and days out so we could book these prior to our arrival. We would definitely recommend the property.

An excellent very beautiful spacious traditional Cornish character cottage in the heart of Looe
Nestled in the tiny picturesque back streets of Looe, this lovely cottage is an ideal spot close to the restaurants, cafes, shops, beach and harbour. The accommodation is exceptionally serviced and maintained and has a well-equipped kitchen, a large lounge dining area with room to accommodate and seat up to 9 guests. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the bedrooms all have very comfy beds with lovely fresh white linens. The booking is straightforward and with immediate response from the delightful owner.

Old world charm, modern day practicality
The cottage reflects Looe in that it offers a glimpse of the past with the practicality of the present. Not only is there plenty of room for nine to sleep but also plenty of space during the day to relax. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment - yes there is a coffee machine - and the usual appliances, but practically everything else you could want too - including a cocktail shaker!
The cottage is very close to the beach and town centre but being down a narrow back street, you wouldn't know it. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

Comfortable and enjoyable stay
We stopped at The Old Vicarage over the festive season and had a wonderful time.
The Old Vicarage is very spacious and comfortable and has everything you need to make your stay homely. We loved to light the log burner in the evenings after a day out around Looe and Polperro.
It is right in the middle of Looe so everything is on your doorstep so you can be having a drink in the many pubs or having a wonderful meal in minutes.
We highly recommend the Old Vicarage to anyone who wants to stop in a lovely period property, but with all the ‘mod cons’ to make your holiday so enjoyable.

Fab House/Fab Time
We have just returned from a fabulous week staying at The Vicarage in Looe. What an amazing house, it is very quirky with the original features beautifully restored. All the furniture and fittings are of a very high standard. We loved the walk in shower. We loved the personal touch. If you are tall bring a crash helmet as some of the beams are low. It is perfectly situated in Looe only a few minutes walk from the beach, shops and local pub.

About the neighbourhood
East Looe centres on its broad sandy beach, with the distinctive Banjo Pier (the creation of Joseph Thomas, who lived at The Old Vicarage), a new lifeboat station and St Mary;s Church. Stretching back from the church is a grid of narrow streets forming the main business area of the town, packed with many small shops, restaurants and pubs. Along the estuary lies the quay with its fish merchants. Towards Looe Bridge lies the Victorian Guildhall (which is now a museum), and just north of the bridge the railway station. This is the terminus of the Looe Valley branch line to Liskeard (at Liskeard, the line connects with the main Plymouth to Penzance Great Western Main Line and to London Paddington).
On the hilltop above East Looe lies Shutta. Along the cliffs to the east is Plaidy Beach, and further on the bay and village of Millendreath with another gorgeous beach.
Towards the end of September, Looe hosts a famous music festival on the local beach that should not be missed (see our gallery for photographs).
On New Year's Eve, Looe provides a surprisingly exciting and large celebration. This small, quaint seaside town is host to an influx of visitors. People flock to the streets in their hundreds, wearing fancy dress, a tradition upheld by all ages. The crowds begin the evening in the town and slowly move towards the seafront for a fireworks display to see in the New Year (see our gallery for photographs).
The cottage is set in a prime location in the heart of old East Looe, nestled away in Looe's quaint backstreets and less than a minute's walk to the sandy beach with its many rock pools, harbour, (fishing trips and ferry cruises), costal paths (perfect for walking or exploring wildlife), some great traditional pubs and award winning restaurants.

The house is a 10 minute walk from Looe train station. There is a branch line railway between Liskeard and Looe. National network rail services from Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, London, Birmingham and places further north stop at Liskeard.

How to get there
CAR
East Looe town, with its narrow winding lanes, is a traffic restricted zone, with access for local residents only, making it very pedestrian friendly.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated parking space behind the cottage by the seafront. You are also able to offload along the side of the cottage (next to the former church building). Our parking space is in front of the church (a 1 minute walk away).
