The rear door opens onto a patio with bench to admire the hillside outlook, a garden table and chairs overlook the stunning view downdale and a bench perched on the hillside from which the whole of Swaledale is spread out in front of you (or so it seems!). Throstle Nest Barn is an upside down cottage, with the dining kitchen, twin bedroom and family bathroom downstairs, and the living room and kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower room upstairs. The cottage is relatively recently converted from a 'cowhouse', and has the original outside stairs up to what used to be where the hay for the cows was stored (and is now the master bedroom). A charming dining kitchen is extremely well-equipped, with slimline dishwasher, washer/dryer, full size freezer, lots of kitchen equipment and dining table for 4 people. Off is the twin bedroom, and down a couple of steps from the kitchen is the family bathroom, with fixed shower attachment. Upstairs is the living room, open to the rafters, with lovely comfortable furniture, large freesat TV and many books and dvds. Off is the master bedroom, with kingsize bed and ensuite shower room. The cottage is very warm and cosy, with not only central heating, kick heaters in kitchen and a multi-fuel stove in the living room (all coal included), but for that extra touch of luxury, underfloor heating in both bathrooms. The icing on the cake is the private garden; or rather, private field, as it's too big to be called a garden! A bench up at the top of the field overlooks amazing views over Swaledale and the (detached) cottage is surrounded by pasture and fields. With all modern conveniences, and a king sized sleigh bed to sink into, you'll spend a fantastic first holiday in Swaledale here - and return year after year, your luxurious treat to yourself! Dogs welcome, free wifi. Sleeps 4. Week bookings are Saturday to Saturday.More

The cottage should be left clean and tidy on departure, with no washing up draining, the dishwasher emptied, and it would be a great help if you could strip the beds used. Please leave by 10am. Please also note the rubbish disposal laminated sheet in the cottage information folder and put the purple bags out on the roadside on the relevant evening before collection (otherwise the rubbish will not be collected).

Swaledale is the most northerly and the most beautiful of the Yorkshire Dales. Renowned for its walking amidst stunning scenery, there are a myriad of footpaths in the local area. Outstanding views all around.
Getting around
A car is essential to get to the cottage, and highly recommended for exploring the area, although the Little White Bus Company run a good local bus service up Swaledale from Richmond.
