As its name implies, the Haven is a lovely cottage to retreat to after a day's strenuous hiking over the beautiful nearby hills and moors. In Gunnerside and recently modernised, but retaining lovely 200 year old Swaledale architectural features such as beamed and boarded ceilings and stone flagged floors, the Haven is wonderfully comfortable and welcoming. An unspoilt character Dales cottage, it nevertheless benefits from modern conveniences such as underfloor central heating and a log-burning stove (first basket of logs provided). The dining kitchen is well-equipped, with washing machine in what was the outside privy. Upstairs is a spacious double bedroom, and twin bedroom, with family bathroom (shower over bath). All bedlinen, towels and teatowels are included. Free wifi, dogs welcome, stone's throw to nearby pub, King's Head, and tearoom and cafe. Many walks direct from the door. As the cottage is located on a fairly narrow road, you can park outside to unload, then park in the main part of the village, plenty of public parking, only 20 yards away.More

The Haven should be left clean and tidy, with all washing-up put away. Departure time is 10am. It would be a great help if you could strip the beds used.

Cottage exceeded expectations - Shame the weather was warm as would have made it a perfect cosy cottage, if I could have put the log burner on!! All you need, for a relaxing peaceful break, is provided in the cottage - The area is beautiful...More

Very glad you had such a good time and liked the cottage. I agree, Swaledale is particularly beautiful, and locals friendly. Would love to welcome you back, the cottage was left very clean and tidy, much appreciated!

About the neighbourhood
Swaledale is the most northerly, and most beautiful, of the Yorkshire Dales. The landscape is really lovely, perfect for walking and cycling, and there are lots of little local villages and towns to explore.
Getting around
A car is the best way to explore, although there is a bus service up the dale.
