Lovely spacious one bedroom stay
We stayed here in March and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and light it was. As you enter there is a wooden spiral staircase to navigate that takes you up to the annex. The door is secured by a code, so no keys needed, which is ideal when you want to go exploring. The kitchen is well equipped, including a fridge freezer and full oven + hob - perfect for longer stays. There are all the utensils you could ever need, plenty of cups and glasses too. The living area is large, with a dining table and chairs, and a large sofa and TV. The sofa also faces a window that has an incredible view over Hook Norton. The heating system is already programmed but there are full instructions on overrides if it is too hot or cold for you. This was very much appreciated as many Airbnbs don't have this information readily available. The WiFi is good and easy to connect to as well. One thing we really noticed was how quickly the place heats up when the heating is on. A lot of places in Hook Norton are on the colder side and even with heating on full blast, we often need extra layers (problem with being a soft southerner!!) Here, this was no problem and it made our stay lovely and comfortable. The TV is a smart TV, it has the usual free view channels as well as Netflix, Prime etc. We forgot to bring our chrome cast, so it was a relief to have a smart TV. The host also has a selection of DVDs, though we didn't use these. The bedroom comes equipped with a four poster king bed. The bedding is all hypoallergenic; the pillows were nice and firm and you get two each. The mattress wasn't too soft or too firm, comfortable for side or back sleeping. There was a thin duvet plus another blanket on top, which is nice for adjusting the warmth to your own needs rather than being stuck with a thick duvet. There were bedside tables on both sides of the bed with lots of storage. There was also a good sized wardrobe too, perfect for longer stays. On the wall, there is a large mirror - great for checking your outfit before leaving. There is a skylight in the bedroom, but it's so high it is seemingly impossible to uncover it... It does make the bedroom a bit dark on the natural light front but the chandelier puts out a good amount of light to make up for it. The high ceilings in this place make it feel very spacious and the beams are lovely to look at. There is off-road parking for one car that is tucked away from the road. If you're staying in Hook Norton, you'll pretty much always want a car for getting around and visiting Banbury / Chipping Norton for days out or supplies. The location is great for the village shop, which is just across the road, and the Sun Inn where you can get delicious food and drink at reasonable prices. Just outside of the Sun Inn is a bus stop too, so if you don't fancy driving, you are only a minute walk away from the bus stop that will take you to Banbury/Chipping Norton and from there you can connect to other surrounding towns and Oxford. The bathroom was nice and clean. It has everything you need and well laid out. The freestanding bathtub is lovely to look at and has a bath or shower option. Plenty of toilet roll too, which is always nice. Photos were from just after arrival, so our bags and coats weren't hung on the hooks provided at that point. As you can see, it's a lovely place to stay, and more spacious than most other options locally.
