Avoid at all costs- not worth it

If you are planning to visit Naxos, Plaka has one f the nicest beaches and we basically planned our trip on the basis of this. We run across the "beautiful" villas managed by Depis and we were in for a treat. One that you should...More

About the neighbourhood
Orkos beach lies between Plaka and Mikri Vigla beaches. This is an approximately 1 kilometre long beach with thick sand. At the beach of Orkos, just like at several other nearby beaches, one can enjoy wind surfing since it is among the most widely known surfing beaches of the island. As the hill of Orkos reaches the sea, the view from its gentle slopes, peeking out from between the cedars is breathtaking.
Getting around
The western side of the island is the most tourist developed and has long sandy beaches lined up with seaside hotels, restaurants and water sports centers. The eastern side is more secluded and non-organized. A drive around the centre of the island brings visitors to traditional villages and interesting historical sites. Many hiking trails also cross the island and lead to secluded spots, like the peak of Mount Zas, the tallest mountain in Cyclades. Apart from hiking, Naxos is also a great island for windsurfing and kitesurfing as the wind conditions are perfect on the island.
