Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire, England
Carpenter's Cottage, in the centre of the historic market town of Pocklington, is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, pubs, theatre, cinema, sports centre and Burnby Hall gardens. Underfloor heating and a wood burning stove make the cottage cosy and comfortable all year round. There is utility room with washing machine/tumble dryer - handy for walking and cycling holidays in all weathers. Items of handcrafted wooden fittings and a stained glass window in the en suite double bedroom all add to the cottage's charm. About the neighbourhood
The medieval walled city of YORK is a 13 mile drive West of Pocklington. With its famous Minster, castle, museums and the beautifully preserved half timbered buildings of the Shambles, York is a fabulous day out - and, as our guests have found, the cottage is a lovely place to return to after a day of sightseeing.Travelling East and North from Pocklington, you will encounter typical East Riding market towns and villages, including the historic County town of Beverley with its own Minster and two market squares. Heading towards the east coast, you may like to visit the village of Burton Agnes with its beautiful Hall and gardens. On the coast itself there are the famous fishing and resort towns of Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough and Whitby.
