An array of activities can be enjoyed on the estate and surroundings, including canopy tours, hiking, golf, swimming, boating, trout fishing, horse riding & hot air ballooning or just relax and read a book. Free private parking is available within a double garage with remote access. The famous Drakensberg Boys Choir is also approximately 10 minutes drive for the estate. The Drakensberg borders Lesotho and runs down to the Eastern and Southern Cape. The peaks reach over 3000m in height. 'The Mountain of Dragons” is the highest peak in Southern Africa and is where the mighty Tugela River rises on the Mont-aux-Sources Plateau, cascading & forming the “Tugela Falls”. Okhahlamba is the Zulu word for “Barrier of Spears”, once home to ancient KhoiSan hunter-gatherers. The Drakensberg (derived from the Afrikaans name Drakensberg meaning 'Dragon Mountains') is the name given to the eastern portion of the Great Escarpment, which encloses the central Southern African plateau. The Great Escarpment reaches its greatest altitude in this region (2000 – 3000 m). The Drakensberg escarpment stretches for over 1000 km from the Eastern Cape Province in the South, then successively forms, in order from south to north, the border between Lesotho and the eastern Cape and the border between Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal Province. Thereafter it forms the border between KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State, and next as the border between KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga Province. It winds north, through Mpumalanga, as far as Tzaneen in Limpopo Province, from where it veers west. At Potgietersrust it is known as the Strydpoort Mountains.

Perfect weekend away
If you looking for breath taking views, peace and tranquility, a beautiful villa to rest and enjoy with your family, then dragons mist is the place to be. The zebra is an added bonus to enjoy. The villa is spacious and absolutely emaculate. The fire place makes the place even more cozy. Lots of activities to part take in around the area. One will never be bored. Anita is such a pleasure to deal with. Always keeps you updated and everwilling to meet her guests needs. The only negative I can say is that the cleaning staff come way to early and you do not have the luxury to rest in or privacy. Day of departure, check out time is at 10am, cleaning staff was there at 8am.you don't really have the space to pack n get sorted to leave. Other than that I would recommend this place for sure. Thank you Anita for a memorable holiday. Kind Regards Helisha Lazarus

Hi Helisha Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback and your kind words; we're thrilled that you enjoyed your holiday and that it made a lasting impression. This is very rewarding for us. Please accept my sincere apologies for the disruption to your departure. We've since reviewed and amended the cleaning procedures by increasing the cleaning staff on check out. This ensures that guests are afforded the privacy and time they require for check out, the house is maintained to a high standard, and it creates additional work opportunities for the local community. We also invite guests to arrive early or check out as late as they wish where possible, to make the most of their stay. Once again, we really appreciate the valuable feedback as this ensures we continuously improve your experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in future. With very best wishes, Anita

VIEW TO DIE FOR!!
As we walked inside the lovely house we were blown away by the view of the distant Drakensberg mountains. We spent as long as possible on the terrace, in the eco-pool or just looking out of the window to enjoy spectacular sun-rises, sun-sets and especially the zebras. On our last day one zebra was drinking from the pond and walked boldly up to the enclosed lawn for a good feed - it seemed sufficiently tame to allow us to get close for pictures etc!! We used the outside fire for cooking both nights as why go to a restaurant when you can luxuriate in those surroundings!? Close to Monks Cowl visitors centre for amazing walks in the mountains - the walk to the Falls was about 2-3 hours in total and well worth the effort. Also try the zip-wire experience which was a real adrenaline rush and so well executed by the friendly and well-trained staff.

Beautiful Home, peaceful with amazing views
Spent 3 days with friends at Dragons Mist and it was wonderful. House was well equipped ,very comfortable, spacious and clean. Under floor heating in winter was a bonus and the indoor fire place kept us very warm. The views were amazing and we did a few walks which were lovely and for all levels. There is enough to do in the area to keep you entertained or if you would prefer to chill at the unit then you can't go wrong with the stunning scenery. Highly recommend Dragons Mist.

Stunning; a beautiful home with lovely views.
We stayed here for a few days at the beginning of July. We all loved it and really did not want to leave! It was perfect for our group of six (two couples plus two young adult children). Each bedroom has it's own en suite bathroom and the main bedroom even has a large walk in closet. The house is very spacious and well furnished, with everything you would need for a few days away. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful setting, with wonderful views. We thought it was very reasonably priced as well. Anita was really accommodating - very responsive to messages and really helpful. She even let us stay as long as we wanted to on our last day as no-one was coming after us. The only negative I can think of is that you have to drive to the national parks and most hikes, unlike Parks board chalets where you can literally just walk outside your chalet to any number of fantastic hikes (but the chalets are overpriced and cramped, so it's a trade off). We highly recommend this place, and would definitely stay here again.

Good property with amazing view
Quiet location on a secure estate, fantastic view. All mod cons as expected with one exception, no air con in bedrooms and it was incredibly hot during our stay.

Hello Oldvicar, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and thank you for the advice. We have taken your feedback on board and are delighted to let you know that we have had air conditioning fitted in all the rooms. Between this and the pond in the garden, we hope it will keep you cool we have it ready for your next visit. The air conditioners also serve as heaters in Winter making it extra cosy. Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back in future. Kind regards, Anita

Excellent luxury accommodation
This is the place to stay. We were a family of 5 and the accommodation was excellent and felt luxurious. The views were spectacular. The natural pool was very nice if you don't mind swimming with tadpoles but the floor is very slippery. I made a mistake with my booking and the owner was very good at letting us stay another night. If you are there when the Drakensberg Boys Choir have a concert on - you must go.

Tranquility at its best!
My friends and I visited Dragon's Mist from the 1st till 4th September 2016. From the time that the bookings were made, Anita was very efficient in providing information and accommodating our ever changing needs and was very patient while we couldn't make up our minds on the best suitable date...LOL! The communication regarding what to expect and a set of instructions to follow were timeously sent and we experienced no difficulty at all. Upon arrival at the house, I was blown away by how beautifully furnished and clean the house was. The place is everything one could hope for a perfect holiday. The mountain view is a pleasant addition to an already amazing estate. The service from security and cleaning teams was also excellent. A big thank you to Anita and Team, stay awesome!

Wow loved every minute
Stunning luxury home with everything you need. The estate itself is wonderful, with walks, fishing and wildlife to name a few. I loved staying here, pity it was only two nights. The views of the mountains were spectacular!!

Mountain splendour
Set in a nature reserve with spectacular views of Cathkin peak and Champagne Castle, Dragon's Mist is a gem for anyone seeking some relaxing time away from the hustle of the working day. Watch zebra doing what zebras do from the patio, enjoy the birdlife ( a pair of familiar chats are resident, as well as sunbirds) and just relax. Less than five minutes away from the hotel resorts of Monk's Cowl, with a restaurant , golf, and putt -putt, and the Champagne sports resort with an excellent golf course, there is plenty for the sports lover. Nearby are other attractions; reptile park, bird park, local crafts and honey farm, as well as horse riding, (I can recommend Ushaka Horse Trails.) quad biking, river rafting, canopy tours and more. Dragon's Mist as an accommodation venue is only to be recommended. My well-travelled 16 year old assured me it is the best place he has stayed at. The house is very tastefully decorated, and extremely well equipped, with all mod-cons (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc.) as well as a secure double garage. My only regret was that our visit was short, I would gladly have stayed longer than four days.
