The house is in Kaning, which is part of the region of Radenthein in sunny Carinthia, the most southern state of Austria.
Kaning is a small village with 650 inhabitants.
The house is 300 years old and has a long and impressive history: in bygone days it was once a school, a hotel and a tollbooth. And now we have developed it into two apartments each with accomodation for six people.
The house is next to a centuries-old church, and next to it there is a supermarket where you can buy fresh bread (Mon-Sat) and a village square where village festivities take place. There is a restaurant and bar on the square where you can enjoy a very reasonably-priced meal, as well as the option for a take-away service.
There are more shops in Radenthein which is about 5 km from Kaning.

A lot of people don't think of Carinthia as a skiing destination even though the drive there isn't that much further than to other skiing areas. And it has all the facilities that other popular ski resorts have.
There is plenty to do for those who don't ski or snowboard. There is an extensive network of walking and cross country skiing routes. You can also go for a walk on snow shoes or take a ride in a horse- or husky- drawn sleigh and skate on the frozen lakes. And at the end of an active day outdoors, you can warm up with a drink in one of the cosy huts or enjoy the warm water in the Carinthian thermal baths.
Carinthia is part of the Alpe-Adria region which also includes the Austrian state of Styria, Slovenia and the Italian regions of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia and Veneto. The Adriatic Coast is only an hour and a half's drive away and you can get to Venice within two hours.
The ski area of Bad Kleinkirchheim is only 10 minutes drive away with its 103 km of ski slopes.
You can also relax in the thermalbad with a view of the ski slopes.
