TWO WORLDS: The Bay Window B & B & B is a short ferry boat ride from downtown Toronto - the core of entertainment and culture in Canada's largest city. The Toronto Islands park is a chain of several interconnected islands and home to a small community of 250 houses located on Ward's and Algonquin Island. The Bay Window B & B & B is located on Ward's Island and has been in operation for several years. (The extra 'B' represents a feature of this island accommodation - bicycles large and small are available for guests at no charge.) We are LGBTQ positive. There is also a wine tasting specialist and a massage therapists available for bookings here on Ward's Island. ACCOMMODATION: The charming cottages and gardens located on our islands are what attract city folk to our community. As a passionate gardener my home is surrounded by flowering plants and shrubs. This accommodation is a completely private space tucked into our back garden. It has a sunny bed room with a Queen size bed, an ensuite bathroom, a private entrance from the garden and a private patio. The facility was newly built (2007) and located on the ground floor. The room is equipped with a refrigerator, electric kettle and wired/wireless internet access. This is a pet free zone and a non-smoking accommodation. Please inquire about wheel chair access. Please view the calendar as most weekends book quickly for the summer. I book one night during the week only, not on weekends. Payment: cheque, postal money order, internet transfer, cash. (Sorry no Pay Pal, credit cards or payment through this website.) BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served at the Island Cafe, a two minute walk from the Bay Window. The cafe is owned and operated by a Island family and offers our guests a supreme 'hit of Island culture'. When the cafe is closed during inclement weather in May or at the end of September a breakfast is brought to the room. RECREATION: There are lots of recreational opportunities here. The closest beach on Ward's Island is two minutes away. The notorious Hanlan's Point clothing optional beach is a bicycle ride away and the only one in the city. The boardwalk extends along the southern shores of the island chain and provides a scenic location to walk or run. Roller blading, birdwatching and picnicking are popular activities in the summer. Boat rentals and the Centre Island Theme park for children is a 40 minute walk away. Community events are open to visitors and our Ward's Island clay tennis courts are accessible for $20 from 1-4pm on weekdays. Tennis courts are also found on Hanlan's Point at no charge. For something different, check out wine tastings hosted by Nupur of Island Vines - a fun and informative adventure into food and wine hosted on Wards Island. Check out her website by the same name. Or, kick back with a massage by Gwen Chalmers, RMT ...right in your room! Contact info will be sent upon booking. RESTAURANTS: There is a seasonal eatery run by locals called the Island Cafe. It is 2 minutes from my home. There are other restaurants beyond Ward's Island that are opened seasonally when Centre Island theme park is operating. These restaurants are about a 35 minute walk away. CITY ACCESS: If entertainment is desired in the city the ferry boats run frequently all day long until 11:30pm and a Water Taxi is available after that point to deliver you back to Ward's Island. The Islanders are bike riding commuters that are proud of their community and its pleasures. DETAILS: Once a guest has booked at the Bay Window B&B&B, an Information Sheet is provided indicating the departure times of the ferry, location of city parking and contact numbers for the restaurants, the water taxi, and other facilities. I hope to see you here soon! Inese, host of the Bay Window B & B & BMore

Reminding me of Vancouver Island, Ward’s Island is a peaceful and quiet place to be. Inese was a smiley host who took care of showing us around and telling us a bit about what to do and where to be during our short visit. We...More

Stayed at theb&b for one night but wish we could have stayed for whole trip! Alas a gem like this b&b is bound to be popular considering the location. Its a real sanctuary, clean, owner very friendly and helpful with a cozy comfy bed.

About the neighbourhood
I provide a map of the Toronto Islands once you have booked locating attractions on the island that are notable: Centre Island Amusement Park, Hanlan's Point Clothing Optional Beach, Boat rentals, a Disk Golf Course, Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts and its Lighthouse, numerous restaurants and beaches. The boardwalk stretching along the south edges of the islands is used by runners, cyclists and those desiring a leisurely walk. Roller blading is popular on the inner pathways.
Getting around
Once a guest returns to the city by ferry, they are at the foot of Bay St. and can walk 7 minutes north to Union Station to access the subway trains, or, catch an underground street car at the foot of Bay Street that connects with the public transit system.
