The open plan lounge and dining areas lead through patio doors to the private balcony with views of the bay and beach and it's a great place to watch the sun go down. We missed Cameron Diaz who had been staying in Porthtowan two weeks earlier but loved mixing with surfers, locals and tourists, in "the Unicorn,", "Blue Bar" and the "Blue Beach Cafe". We highly recommend the Burger night on a Friday in the "Blue Beach Cafe"....More

Thanks for the lovely review Sarah. Next time also try to get out to the Carn Brae restaurant which is in a miniature castle outside Redruth. Essential to book though as it’s got limited places but food is excellent, Jordanian, and they let you go...More

Lovely guests, left the cottage in good order and were even honest about inadvertently packing a towel and a bottle opener! Nice people to deal with too.

Mortreth was completely renovated in Spring 2008 and it is refurbished each January and consequently it is in excellent order throughout:Bedrooms - The master bedroom is upstairs with the second and third bedrooms on the ground floor. The master bedroom contains a new king-size bed and has ensuite facilities with seperate shower room. Bedroom two contains a double bed and bedroom three, two single beds.Bathroom - The bathroom is fresh, clean and modern and has a large corner bath with shower over. Laundry room - contains a new washing machine and a separate, new, tumble dryer. To avoid you having to fill your car with beach paraphernalia in addition to bed linen and towels we provide separate beach towels, beach toys (buckets, spades, fishing nets and boogie boards) and beach chairs. About the neighbourhood
Porthtowan is a small village nestling into the cliffs of the north coast of Cornwall. It is set in an attractive cove with a large, sandy, blue flag beach bordered by rock pools; perfect for all the family. Renown for its excellent surfing conditions the beach has RNLI lifeguards on duty from May to October. Dogs are not permitted on the beach between these dates. In addition to the impressive sandy beach, Porthtowan has it's own salt water natural rock swimming pool, which can offer a welcome feature to many parents and children.

The village has all the facilities one needs. Within walking distance there is a convenience store, post office, a fish and chip shop, a surf shop, surf school, surf hire, the obligatory ice cream shop (not to be missed!), a bucket and spade shop, a beach...
