Cacti, birds and sunsets - Oh My!
Yes! Book it if you are seeking a true escape! The freaking landscape is ridiculously amazing if you're ready to be surrounded by cacti in every shape and form, some of them 2-3x taller than you! Birds, so many birds! And the friendly animals on this small ranch.
I was there to escape into some healing therapy work and it was perfect to have my own little self-contained unit with filtered water, mini-but-perfect kitchen, 2 beds, hot shower, indoor toilet and still room inside to do some yoga. The front porch was lovely too for extra up-close bird watching and to chill with the doggies if they were feeling social.
I used my data-plan (US T-mobile) because it wasn't always conducive to go to the main house to use the wi-fi (since I was doing therapy) but it all worked out just fine; and when I needed to be at the main house for the wi-fi, they were totally respectful and just let me have their amazing back patio all to myself.
I was there for almost three weeks, so coordinated with them to get rides into town for groceries and paid one night for a ride to go to the night market. They offer grocery shopping service and laundry (for a very reasonable fee) if you just want to stay on the ranch though.
If you're here to explore the surrounding areas you'll definitely need your own 4x4 vehicle, and the cahones to drive that vehicle up & down a dirt/sand /occasionally mud hill that's moderately steep at one part.
All in all - 100% recommend!

Quiet secluded cabin near Sal Jose del Cabo
This is a lovely quiet place but not too far from the city, or from attractions to the north. The hosts are wonderfully helpful and kind. We would stay here again!

Something different in Cabo ….. quiet and natural.
We spent 2 very enjoyable weeks at this tranquil Rancho. It is not on the ocean but is close to the SJD Airport and sits high on a hill in a dessert/chaparral landscaped environment. Lots of trees, cacti and birds, a good-sized swimming pool add to the well-equipped and comfortable casita. Very pleasant hosts who are happy to supermarket shop for you before your arrival. We certainly recommend this accommodation if you want access to Cabo but prefer a quiet charming stay.

Peaceful desert getaway
This is the perfect space to relax and get away from the typical busy vacation style of Los Cabos. This property sits atop a mesa just outside the town of Santa Anita, and is a short drive from the highway. The landscape is natural, calm, and full of desert life. We were entertained by birds, desert toads, lizards, warm breezes, the friendly family dogs, amazing sunsets over the mountains and starry nights. The property and casitas are clean and well maintained. Britta and Brett are helpful, considerate hosts, and go out if their way to make your stay memorable.

Alternative Baja
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 6-night stay at Britta and Brett's peaceful retreat. As previous reviews have stated, their hospitality (even the dogs!) will help you feel welcome right from the first day when we ate with them on their beautiful palapa with its view of the valley.
It's a very peaceful setting that's in stark contrast to the beach resorts. We were happy to be away from the hoards of people, but were still able to go to two beaches on different days. Of course, the climb up to the ranch is not drivable if you don't have a 4-wheel drive car which Avis didn't seem to have. But, you can park below and either walk up and down, or one of the owners will transport you. The quirky dirt road into Santa Anita is a trip of its own with goats running ahead of you and enormous steers that hold your gaze as you inch by them. We appreciated the owners' recommendation for a family-run restaurant very close to the dirt road. Be sure to have a good pair of hiking shoes or similar to walk through the sandy dirt.
Britta helped us connect with a whale watching boat and Brett gave good suggestions on places to see on the pennisula as well as a fascinating tour of his chicken business at the bottom of the property.
For clarification: The WiFi is only available on the owners' palapa and they gladly welcomed us to use it there even later in the evening when we had to use it to recitify a travel glitch.

A peaceful stay
The condo is amazing, it is the perfect place to stay with your friends, your family members or your lover. The location is great because the beaches and the city are nearby. We loved the hospitality of Brita and Ben (the owners), they are so kind and nice people, even you can meet their dogs. If you want and unforgetable experience while you are taking care of the nature this is the place.

EL MEJOR LUGAR PARA RELAJARTE
“Rancho la Sierra” un lugar increíble con lindas instalaciones en medio de la naturaleza y sobre todo súper limpio e higiénico. La “casita” cuenta con todo lo necesario (súper equipada) para disfrutar del desierto de Los Cabos, lo hallamos a poca distancia del aeropuerto de San José del Cabo, con fácil acceso.
Pudimos admirar gran variedad de aves, lindos amaneceres, así como atardeceres y noches estrelladas. Nos pudimos desconectar totalmente de nuestra rutina y “disfrutar” de lo lindo de la naturaleza que ofrece este lugar... 100% recomendable para aquellos que vivimos en Los Cabos y queremos salir de la rutina, así como para turistas con ganas de conocer parte de la naturaleza de la Baja.
“Britta y Brett” dueños del lugar y los mejores “anfitriones”, nos hicieron sentir como en casa, ellos dan a este lugar un “plus” son súper amigables y amables... definitivamente “Rancho La Sierra” se ha convertido uno de nuestros lugares favoritos en Los Cabos.

About the neighbourhood
Our exclusive mini-mountain resort is located just north of the Los Cabos International Airport, (SJD) 20 minutes from San Jose del Cabo, situated on the private estate of Rancho de la Sierra in the Baja ranchlands of Santa Anita. Close to local beaches, shopping and restaurants, the area offers a wide variety of activities which include whale watching, deep sea fishing, Surf fishing, snorkeling, golfing, walking on the beach, hiking, mountain biking, horse-back riding and gourmet dining. Partake in the Saturday morning Organic Market (winter season) in San Jose which offers a selection of organic foodms, fruits and vegetables. Downtown San 2Jose has the Artwalk on Thursday evenings (October to May)
Getting around
Complimentary pick-up and drop-off at The International airport located in San Jose del Cabo. A 4X4 rental car is suggested We will meet you at the SJD airport rental office if renting a car.
If not renting a car we can organize private tours to the beach (how about a sandcastle lesson). Mexican pueblos or a day at the hot springs .A bbq carne asada is included in the price.There is Public bus service from Santa Anita to San Jose and Cabo San Lucas.
