This apartment is all you need. It has a private patio, fireplaces in the bedroom, living room and bathroom and a fully appointed kitchen.
The grounds have fountains, and gardens that abound with birds. close by are natural spring swimming areas and the house is located right on the old rutas de los Indios. Very historic road between Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel.
Only 5 miles from town and a local bus service running right in front of the property every 30 min. What a way to experience not only San Miguel but, all the historic surrounding that make the area so special.
The main house is common areas are open to guests to enjoy a cocktail if they like and the sweeping views on the rooftop terraces are also open so you can enjoy spectacular sunsets or a night gazing at the stars by the fir...

Magical Oasis.
La Chispa is an Oasis! Located a close 5mi. from the city center. Deana helped us to arrange a personal driver pick up at the airport. He was waiting as planned. We opted not to rent a car, and never felt that we needed one. The local bus system is safe, affordable, easy and fun. The bus stops right outside La Chispa's gate. Average costs, 70 cents one way. On occasion we chose to take a taxi. Drivers are very familiar with this location. Average cost was $8.00 US. There are three spaces available for rental. The apartment which is self-contained and two additional bedrooms with private baths. European comfort, very plush, with attention to detail in every way. Our stay of 30 days could not have been more comfortable. The apartments 1000 square feet of living space is elegantly appointed with unique art work and comfortable furnishings. A good bed is important to us and this one did not disappoint. Added touches of beautiful fresh roses in the living room and bedroom, and welcome note, were so thoughtful. The Private ground floor entrance has a lovely patio for eating outside. Fully equipped kitchen as we like to cook, was perfect. Our Hosts had it stocked with a great selection of spices, tea's, coffee, snacks, breakfast items and bottled water. More than enough to get us started before our first grocery store visit. Water is treated on the property and we never had an issue drinking directly from the properties water system. The bathroom is very large. Huge cupboard for storage, changing area, and the large shower has amazing pressure and endless hot water supply. A soak in the deep tub in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine at the end of the day was decadent. Lighted Makeup mirror, and hairdryer are provided. If perhaps you have forgotten basic toiletries, they are available. Adequate high speed internet was available in every space of the house via a secure wifi. There are three rooftop patios to enjoy. We spent evenings before a chiminea mesquite fire, enjoying gorgeous sunsets. Cozy blankets are provided for the nights we wanted to sit under the stars and plan our next adventure. Away from the city lights, this rural location for star gazing is perfect. The Bar in the main house is beyond belief. Dennis's mixology skills are impressive as are his story telling skills. You may also wish to purchase a delicious South African wine from his collection. The lovingly restored Chapel just across the court yard would be a picture perfect wedding venue. For musicians, the acoustics are fantastic. Wonderful light spills through the stained glass windows. A quiet contemplative space. Deana and Dennis are exceptional Hosts in every way. Deana's fluency in Spanish was a tremendous help time and time again. Their vast knowledge and enthusiastic love for SanMiguel and the surrounding area, inspires you to explore more than just the city. Bonus? New life long friends. Thank you!!

My Birthday Gift
THE SPARK (LA CHISPA) for me personally is a magical place.
Since you enter the property driving in your car and see the Giant Garden full of flowers, trees and different plants, which makes you feel so relaxed to be surrounded by so much Nature.
The rooms are magnificent, decorated with great style and delicacy, I can say they are the best I've seen in San Miguel de Allende
One of my favorite places is the Bar, something incredible hard to describe for my justly FABULOUS
Of the food, well, to speak, Deana Spencer has all the necessary Experience as a Chef to prepare any kind of rich and healthy food, besides that she and her husband Dennis are EXCELLENT HOSTS without a doubt
When I first visited THE SPARK and met Deana, one of the Owners , I knew that I would return, she has such a special way of treating People, a human quality and INCREDIBLE service.
LA CHISPA is a place on the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende, I could say 15 minutes of Camino but it's worth staying with them as they will have a great stay and a great experience.
The property also has a Small Chapel that you can use for a Private Dinner with your partner or for up to 20 people
Go, Meet and Spend the Night in LA CHISPA I promise you that you will not regret

The apartment is supreme, and the property is remarkable - what's not to love?
We just finished our visit to La Chispa and I wanted to get this review done before I forget. While I hate to give away this absolute jewel of a location, I cannot say enough about the lodging, experience, and culture that we experienced while visiting with our most gracious hosts, Deana and Dennis. I’ll break this up, otherwise, my mind will explode with all the things I want to cram into this review.
Property
Lets start with the house. La Chispa is a true work of art. The vision of Deana, your host, this place is an oasis in a small village outside of San Miguel de Allende (more on the town in a moment). Crossing thru the metal gates, you are immediately transported into the Mexican highlands version of a 5 star luxury resort. The grounds are beautiful, and I am told that they are still adding more. The driveway leading up to the main house is its own work of art, as it was inspired by the stone work in the main square (El Jardin) in SMdA. The façade of the main house joins an 18th century chapel that stood on the grounds and was rebuilt by the local artisans based on drawings that the locals had made before time took its toll. The result is a beautiful tribute of people who lived on this land. The local artists have re-adorned the walls with fresco’s of the period. You truly feel like you have stepped back in time when you visit the chapel. It is easy to envision wedding guests enjoying this space once again.
The Apartment
The apartment room was everything described and so much more. Part of the 1st floor of the main house, the apartment is a standalone unit with bedroom, living room, bathroom, and full kitchen. While not on the same scale as the main house above you, there is no lack of comfort. Your hosts have thought of everything – comfortable beds, incredible sheets, soft towels, and a beautiful serene space. Entrance to the apartment is thru your own key and doorway. There is also a stairwell that directs you to the main house, with full access to the main floor as well as the upstairs patio overlooking the lush valley below. Perfect for evening cocktails as the sun sets over the hills.
The House
The main house is a combination of Spanish Colonial Hacienda and modern conveniences. Huge wooden doors, handcrafted for the space, lead you to various rooms from the central garden. From here, you can enter the chapel, the living room, or dining room. Once inside, the special touches of your hosts abound. Works of art from around the world are on every hall and nook. The most spectacular are the works in glass by local artists, but there are masks from Africa, Asia, and all around Meso-America.
My favorite place - toss-up between the bar and the upstairs deck. Either is the perfect place to contemplate how to STAY in this beautiful place for a lifetime. Wonder if Deana and Dennis need a bartender?

Amazing place to stay!!!
My husband and I have had the privilege of staying here twice. The first time was on recommendation of a friend. It is the nicest place I’ve ever stayed. Complete luxury!!! Every detail is well thought out and then there is the added bonus of Deana and Dennis, your hosts!!! Both are well traveled and well educated so if you want to socialize, they are fantastic to talk with. If you wish to be left alone, you have your own entrance. Deana owned a successful restaurant and can cook to any dietary requirement. This is the nicest place I’ve ever stayed and I can’t wait to return next year!!!

Unbelievable
The apartment was Beautiful and the grounds were spectacular.
If you have ever thought you wanted to find out what staying in luxury felt like, this is the place. I can not express enough my surprise at the attention to detail in the whole property.Once you enter the gates you are transported into a magical place that you will never want to leave.
