If you love some isolation in the beautiful countryside this is for you. The scenery literally outside the door is beautiful. The cottage is small but very comfortable and lovely quality furniture and decor. Only about 15/20 minutes drive to Bamburgh. Some great walking countryside and coastal.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are lucky to be in a very quiet area but within easy reach of the coast and beaches. Hope to see you both again.

Perfect hideaway
Lovely location in the middle of nowhere. Very quiet, lots of birds to watch, with outdoor space where you can sit out in the sun. Inside the accommodation is very nice, downstairs is the kitchen/diner with the bathroom off the kitchen. Bathroom has good shower and nice bath. Kitchen fully equipped, nice touch of scones and jam on our arrival.
Upstairs is the living area and off that is a large bedroom. Both nicely furnished and comfortable.
We were first in after Covid lockdown - we felt perfectly safe and protected and the owners had left suitable cleaning, sanitisers for our use.
The owners also sold their own eggs, jam and honey - handy for your supplies
If you are tall, then the upstairs needs some negotiating not to bump your head, also careful bending into the fridge for the same reason.
Walking either on the beaches or in the Cheviots all easily accessible and the latter offers some lovely quiet walks.
Would recommend for some peace and quiet

Cosy cottage in lovely location
We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. On arrival there were flowers, cake and a bottle of bubbly. The finish of the cottage is lovely - compact downstairs but well equipped. Up the slightly curved staircase you come into the lounge area and then through to the bedroom, both with double-aspect through velux windows (great for when it's warm as well!). Lovely Northumberland countryside outside. Great location for local walks or if you wanted to explore further.

Honeymoon delight :)
This was the most amazing place to stay. We stayed in Cuddys Croft and in Homildon House during our honeymoon stay of just under 2 weeks. It was worth every penny. Such a beautiful and tranquil place to stay and central to everything! We visited Seahouses, Farne Islands, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Cragside, St. Cuthbert's Cave and much more. What a beautiful spot, hope one day soon we can return.

A timely break
We had an excellent break in an idyllic situation which sits between the renowned North Northumberland coast and the Cheviot Hills. The hosts provided everything we needed for a cosy and comfortable stay including home made scones and bread on our arrival. Thank you. We will be back.

A perfect Easter break.
We arrived on Saturday 13th April 2019 and received a very warm welcome from Lorna who showed us around the cottage. We were greeted by a roaring fire in the wood burner, a freshly made loaf and a plate of scones, jam and cream on the table.
The cottage was very clean, in excellent condition and in a beautiful, peaceful, location with sheep and lambs outside the window and views to the hills beyond.
Everything we could want was provided, comfy beds, fresh white towels, torches for the darks paths at night. It felt like home from home.
Northumberland was fantastic, Banburgh and Alnwick Castles are obviously top of the to do list but a boat trip to the Farne Islands should not be missed. You really must go onto the island and see the birds close up and for the shear beauty of its setting Cragside would be my top tip. Seahouses is not the most attractive village but the food at the Banburgh Castle Inn was excellent.
A wonderful holiday. Thank you Lorna and Andy.

Lovely Location and Cottage
We had a lovely long weekend at the Homildon House. The setting was tranquil and perfectly located for the beach and walks inland. We enjoyed the St Cuthbert's cave walk and the beach at Ross. We love the little shops in Rothbury, especially Rainbow Yarns if you are into knitting and wool. The cottage was lovely and cosy, everything we needed was thought of and Sherlock (our dog) loved the garden.

Chillaxing for a couple of days..x
Fabulous cottage..peaceful & beautiful surroundings..exactly what we wanted..with the added bonus of delicious home made scones with jam & cream...what is not to like...lovely to wake up & hear the farm animals..sheep, turkeys, geese & hens, aswell as various types of wild life...but alas guys...never seen or heard the Woodpecker.....Our dog had an enjoyable stay too..walks galore...especially popping down to Bamburgh to the long stretch of beach & see the magnificiet Castle..then onwards to Seahouses for a huge fish supper, returning back to cottage for a chilled out evening watching films.
Thank you to both Lorna & Andy..we will most definitely be back..xx

Spylaw Farm is located equidistant between our wonderful heritage coast and the sweeping hills of the Northumberland National park. It is wonderfully quiet yet only a short drive to major visitor attractions. The quaint village of Chatton is 2 miles away with its pub & restaurant, shop, post office, trout fishery, gallery and gym. The market town of Wooler, just on the edge of the National Park, is 5 miles away with its bustling high street and interesting shops and galleries. The Cheviot hills lie just beyond Wooler and are perfect for walking.
Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and the Northumbrian coast are just a few minutes drive.
Locally we have golf, horse riding, boat trips and plenty of history.

A car is needed to travel in the locality, although we are well served with a local taxi firm.
We have a regular train service from the railway stations at Berwick and Alnmouth. By train the cities of Newcastle and Edinburgh are 40 minutes away.
