Our ancient Savernake Forest is only a 5 minute drive away and is quite stunningly beautiful whether you are walking, picnicking or cycling. The cabins provide a superb holiday base from which to explore the ancient county of Wiltshire and are easily accessed from the M3 and M4. Furthermore, the airports of London Heathrow, Bristol, Southampton and Bournemouth are between one and one and a half hours drive away. The local village of Pewsey is less than two miles away and boasts a good supermarket, butcher, baker, petrol station, garage, Indian restaurant, cafes and pubs and it also has a railway station with a fast train service to London and the West Country. No smoking is allowed in the cabins but can be enjoyed outside under the cover of the veranda. Well behaved dogs welcome and verandas now have gates therefore secure for dogs and young children. Willowbank Lodges (River Birch)
Clean and tidy, with attention to detail that counts for a lot. Home from home, even if just for a week. The view from River Birch over the pond truly soothes one's soul. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful break not too far from the rest of humanity (Pewsey is close by) look no further

Cosy, Quiet and Tranquil
We enjoyed a lovely and peaceful weekend at the lodge. It has everything you need and the interior and heating made it very cosy and warm whilst enjoying a birds eye view of the small lake. It's absolutely ideal if you want to get away from it all and enjoy some quiet time. Thank you Nicky for a great stay. We hope to come back again.

A slice of heaven.
Wow. I had a wonderful four night stay at Willowbank Lodge, in the River Birch lodge. I spent most of my stay wondering whether the place could be any more perfect. There were a few niggles, soundproofing between the rooms could be better but the place was generally very peaceful and definitely very beautiful. I loved that my dogs were welcomed and we enjoyed many a walk around the lake, I loved watching the birdlife and at night there were small bats flying everywhere. It was amazing and I felt so lucky to be there. I went to work and I loved sitting on the porch with my laptop, trying not to get distracted by the birds on the lake, the view from inside was also wonderful. I got a lot done and felt like I had had a complete break from normal life. I didn't want to leave!!! The wifi was adequate, it wasn't the fastest but it didn't keep dropping out which is the main thing. Mobile reception was ok, 02 was a bit patchy but pretty good, Vodafone was great reception. The lodges have been done up really well, the bed was incredibly comfortable!

Get booking! This place is fantastic!
We stayed in this Lodge in February and we cannot rave about it enough. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who is a lovely lady....so friendly and accommodating. The lodge exceeded our expectations. It was perfectly clean and contained everything you could need for a short stay. We took our dog with us who was made more than walcome. She enjoyed spending the early mornings watching all the wildlife from the enclosed decking area. She was completely fascinated. There is lots to do in the local area. Plenty of long walks to go on and places to explore. We will 100% be returning in the near future! Well done Nicky and we are very jealous of the set up that you have there! Stunning!

Thank you for your fantastic review. I had felt a bit embarrassed about the works going on with the lake as it looked so bare and muddy, but clearly your vision extended beyond that! When you return it should look lovely, with the grass restored and all the reeds gone. Thank you for leaving the cabin so clean and tidy and I very much look forward to seeing you both and the gorgeous Bronwyn at some stage in the future.

The location is excellent, in front of the lake watching the ducks and the swans, very relaxing.
The cabin over looked the lake and was very relaxing. The cabin was the best we had stayed in, very clean, had everything we needed, very comfortable. Took our dog Molly and she too loved it. Our stay was to go walking and to relax, the weather wasn't great but we did manage to walk along the canal just a 5 min walk from the cabin. Nicky is a lovely host, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments and I am so glad you enjoyed your stay here, despite the disappointing weather - we have all be waiting for that 'Indian Summer' but it just hasn't happened! I do remember your lovely Molly, we seemed to have had a lot of dogs that week and thankfully they all got on. My Wilf loves meeting all the guests and their canine friends. I look forward to seeing you both again sometime in the future.

Wonderful Views
The view from the cabin was just gorgeous. The lake with the ducks and the wonderful autumn colours of the trees. We were blessed with mild and dry weather only having rain on the day we left. The location worked well for us as we visited Longleat and Stonehenge. The cabin was warm and comfortable, with provision of good cooking equipment and a spacious bathroom with thick, good sized towels. A very pleasant place and experience and I would recommend it to any couple looking for a space that gives you privacy with comfort and a reasonable location for exploring the area.

perfect peace
We stayed, in this delightful log cabin for 10 nights and it was just lovely. Extremely well equipped and most beautiful bed and linen you could wish for. We had some wonderful walks both along the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Savernake Forest and the joy of a soak in that gorgeous bath just left us totally relaxed. The surroundings are so peaceful and we very much enjoyed the attention to detail by Nicky who was never intrusive but always available to help with any problem. The fencing around the balcony meant our Schnauzer could not get too close to the swans, much to his disgust !!!! We can't wait to come again and I would recommend any one in need of a complete change of pace that they try a few days here!!!!

About the neighbourhood
Pewsey is a charming little village which is less than two miles from Willowbank Lodges and, although small, boasts a surprising number of ameneties. We have an excellent supermarket open seven days a week, a butcher, baker (delicious old fashioned donuts and lardy bread!) petrol station, post office, bank, gift shops, florists, art gallery and visitor centre, internet cafe and various coffee shops and pubs. In addition, we have an excellent award winning tennis club where Willowbank Lodges has membership for its guests and a leisure centre with a swimming pool, squash courts, etc. Slightly further afield, Marlborough boasts a large variety of restaurants and pubs, boutiques, antique shops, two fine churches and has the widest high street in the country. Now it is probably more famous for its International Jazz Festival which takes place in July (13th-15th this year) – a glut of musicians and singers, new bands and old favourites from all over the world, really an experience not to miss. Another music festival taking place this year (April 14th) just north of Marlborough is OneFest with Damon Albarn giving us a preview of his Dr Dee. Local artists open up their studios (Open Studios) to the public during four weekends in July so what with other local musical and artistic events, plenty for those who want to absorb a little local culture. For those crop circle enthusiasts, we are right in the midst of crop circle country and usually there are quite a number of sometimes quite spectacular crop circles to be found on the Downs or in the Vale, within 10 minutes drive of Willowbank Lodges.

Notes from owner
The calendars show Friday to Friday prices though in the off peak seasons I can often accommodate other start dates so please do enquire. In the peak summer months I will occasionally take a Friday to Monday and Monday to Friday booking but am mostly looking for a minimum of a one week booking. Please note that the nightly rate shown is for a minimum three night stay. If you choose 4, 5 or 6 nights then the daily rate becomes cheaper so please ask for a quote and I will also accept some two night bookings depending on the time of year. Dogs are an additional £3 per dog per night. Currently I am adding a small fee of £20 to each booking to cover the additional laundry and cleaning costs as a result of Covid. Longer term and business lets also taken so please enquire for a quote.
