It is as perfect as "perfect" can be
This was our second stay at Casa Blanca, and it was perfect again. I can't list all the good things about this villa. To name a few: absolutely clean, perfect design for 4 couples (all bedrooms are separated and provide privacy), comfortable beds and good bedding, within walking distance to the town with restaurants and lot's of fun, steps from the sandy beach. Manager Ivonne is a pleasure to deal with. Curt is a very responsive host. We also had 3 delicious dinners prepared for us at the villa by amazing cook Maria.

Paradise!
It's tough to find a place to start explaining how wonderful our week here was. Everything I expected and so much more! We were a group of 6 women and that's a tall order to please us all but your staff succeeded and went above and beyond expectations! We celebrated my 50th birthday and arranged a wedding at the house for a couple that had been together for over 35 years but chose this trip to make it "official!" We used the Marias for several meals and everything they made was fantastic, fresh, and delicious! Whatever Ivonne makes it just is not enough! Whatever we had questions about she was quick to answer either by text or just showing up in person! Irma was there every day and we didn't even know she was there. She was so quiet and tried to stay out of everyone's way and clean around us and she did an amazing job! Honestly, that house stayed cleaner than the 5-star resort we normally visit!
The house is so impressive and is spaced perfectly to accommodate multiple couples and still maintain privacy. The furniture is beautiful and in great shape with very little wear and tear if any. We are all from Houston, Texas and our Astros won the World Series while we were there thanks to you having American cable we were able to watch the game at the house. The Sonos sound system is such a nice touch! We enjoyed it every day in the house and out by the pool. The house is so close to the beach we were connected to the WiFi when we were on the beach!
Last, but not least of all, Fili is a gem! Waking up every morning and enjoying my coffee with him and his huge smile while he was cleaning the pool was a great start to my day. He made sure he delivered our ice at the same time every morning along with whatever else we asked him to get us. Your staff works so well together that it's clear they all really like working together and that's so rare and important! We all developed relationships with all of them individually and they're amazing!
We are all planning our next visit to this beautiful house and pray that Ivonne, Irma, and Fili are still there when we do. If I may be so bold as to offer a suggestion that would improve your future guests' comfort...Please think about getting a couple of ceiling fans or hung box fans on the outdoor patio. It would help so much with the mosquitos as well as help keep people cool when there's no breeze.
Thank you again for sharing your beautiful property with the world. You have your own paradise there and now we do too!

We could have stayed a full month!
Our stay at Casa Blanca, Playa del Carmen was an amazing one! The house was spotless upon arrival, and we were greeted by the property manager Ivonne who is extremely pleasant, speaks great English, and showed us everything we needed to know about the home. The beach is just 50 steps from the pool, and the neighborhood security made us feel so great as they toured the neighborhood during our entire stay. The beds were all so comfy, and Mirna kept the home spotless for us. We will absolutely return to this beautiful beach oasis!

Fantastic Rental Home!
I just returned from a week at Casa Blanca and could not be happier with my stay! If you are thinking of staying here, just do it! Ivonne (the house manager) was so kind, responsive, & helpful during our visit. She gave us loads of good suggestions and helped coordinate all of our adventures. The house chefs "The Two Marias" definitely made some of the best food we had in Playa, highly recommend their catering. All in all, I can not wait to be back on the beach that is literally steps away from the house. Loved staying at Casa Blanca and look forward to going back.

Wonderful stay
Amazing house with amazing support staff. If you've been to Mexico before and have a little Spanish ability this is an extraordinary place to consider. The house manager, Ivonne, is a fantastic local fixer and set up rides and activities several times during our stay. Restaurant recommendations, live music spots, on and on...she was a blast and very responsive.
Highly recommend bringing "the Two Marias" in to fix meals a few times throughout your stay. We scheduled them for every other day and ate leftovers in between...fantastic system! The kitchen itself is well-appointed, with actually decent cookware. We've stayed in homes where they cut corners on equipping the kitchen and it taints an otherwise great room. Not so, Casa Blanca.
Rooms are a great size, the grounds/maintenance guy was helpful and super fun to chat with. Take him a cup of coffee in the morning and you can practice your Spanish. Mirna, who did our daily maid service, did a great job as well and seems to materialize into and out of thin air. Having these folks help made everything WAY more relaxing than we've experienced before.
If you're looking for total peace and quiet it may not be your spot. The house is on the corner of a fairly busy (during the day) street and an active beach access side road. When you're sitting at the pool people will walk by you. Say hi! You're a local! Neighborhood cats, dogs and capybaras are part of the fun too. We thought this was a great feature.
The beach really is close. Like so, so close. Don't-even-put-on-your-flipflops close. Walk-back-for-each-beer close. The neighborhood has some security via gates and guards so we were never worried in the area. Walking to downtown was a quick 10 minutes and a ride to the airport runs 45 mins to an hour with traffic.
In short, we've been to this part of Mexico close to ten times and this was our favorite stay. We'll be back for sure.

Fabulous vacation
My husband, our three adult daughters and their husbands spent a week at Casa Blanca. We had a fabulous time. It was so nice that each couple had their own bed and bath. We enjoyed the pool and going to the beach which is so close. Town is so close. It was so nice to have daily maid service. We appreciated all the recommendations made by Ivonne and Curt. We used their recommended cook several times. It was nice to have prearranged for her to make our arrival supper. She also made meals for my husbands birthday. We used the transportation services they recommended. Ivonne the house manger knows everything about Playa. She found a gym for my husband to use, recommended restaurants and was available to support us. This was our first trip to Mexico and Playa del Carmen. It was a wonderful time.

Just Perfect
We LOVED our stay at this beautiful home! It is located in a gated community just steps from the beach. We had 4 couples staying at the house and it is set up perfectly to accommodate each couple with their own room and bathroom with nice separation - basically a room at every corner of the house - it was seriously PERFECT! The house staff is awesome! They will run to the store, cook for you (if you hire the chef - and you should!!!), and do laundry - and they are very, very sweet and accommodating - as is the owner! I would definitely recommend this home to a family or several couples! It's super cute, has a well maintained pool and LOTS of towels, close to the downtown area - you will not be disappointed!!!

Absolutely Phenominal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a great vacation. I don't know where to start. Location Is so good 10 Minutes walking from the start of 5th ave on south end, near the ferry to go to Cozumel.Traveled with 3 other couples and arrived at the house to be welcomed by the cooks (whom I will talk about later) with the best guacamole and margaritas waiting for us on the outside patio after traveling most of the day this really hit the spot.
The house is beautiful, I have traveled to Mexico for over 30 years, this was one of the best places I have ever stayed. 4 bedrooms which 3 are huge masters My wife and I stayed in the regular room and still had more room than need. Very spacious. All bedrooms have their own large bathrooms, cleaner than any 5 star hotel than I have stayed in.
Every room in the house is spacious from the family room to the kitchen to the dining room.It handeled all 8 of us with ease. You will not be disappointed with the house. Immaculate will best describe it.
If you rent the house, you must include the cooks. Concertina and Jasmine Mother and daughter. They do cost extra but well worth it.We had them cook breakfast and dinner for four days. We told them to surprise us with the meals.WOW!!!!!!This is how Mexican food is supposed to taste. You will jot be disappointed
Ivonne who is the concierge, was at our beckoning call. She handles everything, from communicating with the staff, arranging transportation, she actuall booked massages for the ladies. Most of the staff does not speak english. I would recommend getting a translation app I used "say Hi" worked good.
I really feel bad for not getting the other staff members name who did all the cleaning, laundry etc.She kept the house spotless. She is there every day.She also has a son who helps around the house. His name is Heido. You can use him to run errands like get ice, grocery store etc.
It is literally 50 steps to the beach, for me only 47 (long strides) all in all you will not be disappointed in this little gem of a Casa in Playa del Carmen. I would recommend this to everyone, especially if you have three great friends to share this experience with as I did.

“We want you to have the perfect trip, until we don’t…”
Our family of 8 (6 adults and 2 children ages 6 & 3) spent 10 days at Casa Blanca in November 2018. Like many of those who have stayed before and many of you reading reviews now, you will choose to stay because of all the great 5* reviews the house gets. We have a slightly different story to tell and hope that our story, along with suggestions for future visitors and the owners will be appreciated.
Let us start with some great things:
1. Upon booking Casa Blanca, the owner, Curt, was in touch and very organized. This was definitely a plus and put our minds at ease about the trip. We have rented several villas throughout the Caribbean but this was the first in Mexico so it was important the owner was prompt in replies to questions. Each message reiterated how he wanted us “to have the perfect vacation,” etc.
2. The house is literally 50 steps from the beach and is located in a beautiful and very safe gated neighborhood. The neighborhood is lovely for morning/evening walks and runs and even includes a few ruins to see!
3. The interior of the house is well appointed and decorated as in the photos. The beds were comfortable and the satellite/smart TV was great for catching the parade and sports on Thanksgiving Day!
4. The recommended transporter, Felipe, was excellent and so well organized. We had three different arrivals in Cancun and even when one flight was well-delayed he made the necessary arrangements and was there to greet us. He also helped organize a private car/driver to Chichen Itza one day with good prices.
5. The house manager, Ivonne, was the best asset. She was incredibly efficient and made the things that went “wrong,” “right.” We were grateful for her.
Next, we will discuss our overall experience and areas for improvement:
We must mention that upon arrival there was no one at the house to meet us despite us having sent our arrival times and having used the recommended transportation company for our airport transfer. Once the house manager, Ivonne, arrived we started to understand how things at the house worked, etc. Sadly, in the coming days we would experience several problems to which the owner, who wanted us “to have the perfect trip” would not respond.
1. Pre-ordering Groceries – Casa Blanca discusses the opportunity to pre-order groceries and have the house stocked with basics when you arrive. Curt suggested we send the list directly to him which we did. Unfortunately, not all of our groceries arrived and what did arrive was wrong – we had to wait another day and half to get more groceries in. The owner did offer to reimburse us for the groceries we didn’t need but honestly it was so much trouble we didn’t even bother. Below is an example of our list:
¥ Half gallon of 2% milk – was given lactose free milk
¥ 1 bag Sour Cream & Onion Potato Chips
- given one small can
¥ Butter (not margarine)
- Received butter AND Margarine
¥ Purple Grapes
- did not receive
¥ Jar of JIF Creamy Peanut Butter
- received crunchy peanut butter
¥ Sugar
- received 1 kg of sugar (really??)
¥ Red Pepper/Chili Flakes
- did not receive
¥ 4 bottles of Pinot Noir
- got 4 bottles of Pinot Grigio
¥ Ingredients for fresh Margaritas
- got Jose Cuervo Mix
¥ Ingredients for Bloody Marys (e.g. Bloody Mary Mix (spicy) celery, olives, tabasco or other hot sauce, old bay or a seasoning similar, etc.)
- not received
¥ Ingredients for Fresh Mojitos
- not received.
Suggestions:
• House Guests: Walk to Walmart about 15 minutes away, buy your own groceries and alcohol and take a taxi or peddle taxi back. It’s way easier.
• Casa Blanca: Consider the list and double check the delivery BEFORE guests arrive to make sure items are correct Also consider the amount- do you really think someone staying for 10 days needs 1kg of sugar? Especially when there is sugar already there? Be considerate of their time, budget and what is already available in the house.
2. The House – Casa Blanca is well-appointed and decorated just as in the photos. It is important note the following:
a. The house is much smaller than it appears in the photos. If close quarters don’t bother you, then there will not be a problem. But for 8 people there is not adequate seating in the living area.
b. The house is located on a very busy corner. We knew it was on the corner before renting but had no idea it would be as busy as it was. The noise coming from the street from garbage trucks, mobile beach cleaners and daily traffic made it difficult to relax in the morning poolside with coffee, etc. Furthermore, there is very little privacy if you are sitting outside.
c. Outdoor grill – only 1 of three burners works so don’t plan on grilling much. The house manager was aware of this but no effort made to repair it. We got the impression it has been broken for a while.
d. In the upstairs queen room there is no fan in the bathroom. This is the only bathroom in the house without a fan.
e. Sheets and towels were stained and often dried rather than washed daily.
Suggestions:
• House Guests: Ask for measurements of the house if size is an issue.
• Casa Blanca: (a) Provide measurements/footage on your website or other house info; (c) repair or replace the grill; (d) check the mold on the ceiling in this bathroom and install a fan; (e) replace the linens
3. Staff/Cook
We arranged to have the cook prepare daily breakfast for us as well as three dinners and a traditional thanksgiving dinner. After two days we relieved her of her duties and went with a chef service (thank goodness! more on the chef service later). Here was our experience:
• The first night the meal was served cold. We requested dinner between 6-7pm. At 6pm the cook asked us what time we wanted to eat. Because 2 members of our family had just arrived due to flight delays we asked for dinner about 7pm. Had we known the food that was already sitting out would not have been reheated we would have eaten right away. At 7pm the food was put on the table cold. The two cooks stood in the kitchen, leaning on the island with hands propped under the chins staring at us until we finished. This made for an uncomfortable dinner.
• Breakfast we good and served warm the next two days but it seemed each time the cooks arrived they just wanted to hurry and leave. Overall the food quality was not that great in flavor or presentation.
• Receipts for groceries were given each day and they requested pesos instead of dollars. This was not told to us before. In fact, the owner said “The cook charges $60 a day for one meal and/or $100 a day for two meals. You pay them direct for their services.” This was no problem but in addition to the daily charges and groceries, they also requested to be reimbursed for their taxi fare to and from the grocery store to bring items for each meal. We assumed this would have been included in the daily rate but apparently not.
Suggestions:
• House Guests: (a) If you choose to use the cook (which we do not recommend) make sure you are straight about cost and payment ahead of time, (b) Go with a chef service! We used Davalos Kitchen (recommended by Ivonne) and were not disappointed. The price was not that much higher and the quality of food and service was SO much better. Cesar the owner came and met us with the Chef, Sioben, to discuss our needs, etc. We got exactly what we wanted and never had to refill our own wine glass. The food was varied and excellent. We were especially impressed with the Mickey Mouse pancakes for the kids, the margaritas to take the beach and a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner.
• Casa Blanca: (a) Be sure you are clear about what is and is not included in the cooks’ services and prices and what form of payment can be used; (b) Let guests know that the cook does not speak English at all so using a translation app might be helpful when trying to explain what you want.
4. Payment
It is important to note that credit cards are not accepted as payment at Casa Blanca once you arrive. Everything should be done in cash and should be paid “as you go.” This is not mentioned in the 16-page house information packet sent by the owner so we did not have much cash on hand. In the other properties we have rented, we have always paid by card for all services at the end (excluding tips). The pay as you go system was confusing and frustrating. It took time out of each day that we wasted reviewing receipts, etc.
Suggestions:
• House Guests: Be clear about payment expectations before you arrive and be prepared with local cash or enough cash to change or take from the ATM for payment.
• Casa Blanca: Be sure you are clear about payment expectations and consider taking credit cards or pay pal. This would make things a lot easier.
•
Overall, our stay at Casa Blanca was good but it was not the luxury rental we had hoped for. We think it is just well advertised which is why it is often rented. There were so many other beautiful houses in the neighborhood available for rent. We would suggest you fully investigate Playacar 1 and 2 rentals before deciding to stay at Casa Blanca.
Also, we have been back 2 weeks and the owner has never contacted us to follow-up on our stay. This is very disappointing since he was very much in touch prior to our renting.
