Great location & host!
This historical home is just a couple of blocks from the Ponce square. Several great restaurants (and ice cream!) in walking distance. Our team was very comfortable in this home, and the host was very attentive to us. Would stay here again.

Wonderful winter getaway to lovely historical vacation area.
What a wonderful place to go to get away from the northern winter. Warm but not too warm and plenty of places to visit. Whether you like historical museums or just wander around the neighborhood. The people are welcoming and you can get by without speaking Spanish. You can walk to shop quaint little shops or drive to places of interest in less than an hour. The house is so comfortable and equipped with any amenity needed. Since Puerto Rico is an US territory, those from the US do not have to change money! I loved picking up Mangoes in the backyard for fresh breakfast. I hope to return in the future.

About the neighbourhood
You will be in the historic district of Ponce, two blocks from the Plaza divided in two by the Guadalupe Cathedral and the Parque de Bombas, City Hall, Boutiques Hotels, top restaurants, casinos, banks and museums surrounds the Plaza Las Delicias and Plaza Degetau. Calle Atocha has been transformed into a Street Mall leading north towards the Plaza del Mercado, an Art Deco palace servicing local vendors, with fresh produce for visitors and neighbors. Within 15 minutes along the Ponce ByPass route or Avenida Las Americas, now known as Luis Ferre Avenue you are in a district of shopping malls, top retailers and leading University campuses including Plaza Caribe, the top southern shopping mall in Puerto Rico. Highway 2 going West takes you to Playa Santa and the region of Porta Del Sol spectacular beaches along Cabo Rojo, Rincon and Aguadilla, all within 30 to 60 minutes from Ponce. Remember, you are only 90 minutes away from Metropolitan San Juan by taking route 52 north. Ponce is deceptively quiet at night but entertainment is available and ready for your visit. Ask the Tourist Bureau at Parque de Bombas in the main square. You will be provided with the most recent Qué Pasa Magazine for all you need to know anywhere in Ponce or the whole island.

How to get there
If you would rather avoid driving from San Juan to Ponce after your flight, especially if it is late in the day and cannot enjoy the panoramic views from 2,000 feet above sea level, Cape Air could bring you to Mercedita Airport in just 25 minutes. You can then pick up your rented car at Mercedita and be at home within 15 minutes. A car is essential in Puerto Rico. Public transit is available by bus or public cars under a special license that competes with official taxi lines. The bus service is limited in Ponce. Car rentals are good and rates are competitive. Make sure you are well covered by your insurance. Your home provides you with private parking in the backyard but street parking is save and available as long as you avoid leaving tempting personal belongings, packages and luggage in view of passersby. Ponce and most of Puerto Rico is well provided with expressways, roads and streets. With a car, you will be able to visit some spectacular sights up the mountains and along great beaches anywhere in Puerto Rico. All you need then is a good map and a good sense of directions. Get your map at the Tourist Center for free or by one at a gasoline station.
