Haro Haiku on the West side of beautiful San Juan Island The house is nestled just below the ridge line - with the Olympic mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca beyond, and Haro Straits immediately below. Approaching the house, you pass by a Japanese-inspired garden with a 62 year old Bonsai black pine center piece. Inside Haro Haiku you'll find a contemporary blend of eastern and western style and decor with a decidedly Asian attitude. The views are spectacular!! From South Vancouver island, across the straits to the Olympic Mountains, Pt Townsend, Mt Rainier, and Whidbey Island it never fails to inspire and delight. Sunrises, sunsets, ship and boat traffic, the lights of Victoria, and the Olympic Peninsula, clear starry nights, cloud formations, combined with the sound of whales and surf...Haro Haiku on the West side of beautiful San Juan Island The house is nestled just below the ridge line - with the Olympic mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca beyond, and Haro Straits immediately below. My Sister and I have just returned from a relaxing 3 night stay at this lovely location. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in at Haro Haiku. Pride of ownership and concern for the comfort of guests was clearly evident in the attention paid to every detail of the home....lovely floor plan, beautiful decor, comfortable furnishing and well supplied kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and all linens were nice quality. Though we were sad that the orca didn't come to visit us, we did enjoy sitting on the deck, watching the hummingbirds feed and soaking in the beauty of the surroundings. There is something special about looking out over the straights and watching the ocean traffic go by. The abundance of windows enabled us to enjoy the view from the majority of the home regardless of the weather. The evenings were cozy, sitting in the living room, enjoying the wood burning fireplace and watching the setting sun. Thanks for making out holiday possible Stephanie! We truly enjoyed ourselves.

This is our third stay at Haro Haiku. So basically that should be sufficient enough a recommendation. The house is amazing and comfortable. The owners constantly upgrade furnishings and recently remodeled the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is fit for a gourmet cook and is open and inviting and well stocked with cookware, utensils, basics and dishes. The view of the sound is spectacular and the entire west side of the house are Windows framing the view. The house sits high on the hill looking down and across to Canada. We saw all three orca pods almost daily. Other wildlife included the resident deer and foxes. Stephanie and Jack are lovely to work with and fantastic property owners. Truly, I hesitate to leave such a glowing review because it makes it more difficult to book our favorite place on San Juan Island. Here's to you Steph and Jack. Thanks for being so great and caring.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Haro Haiku. The view was breathtaking and the amenities were great. The newly remodeled kitchen was perfect for cooking meals and the master suite was beautiful. Sadly we did not see any whales during our stay, so we definitely need to come back again. A very relaxing getaway.

The views are incredible, great to wake up and see the birds, trees and fantastic water, so calming. The house is comfortable, water is a premium on the island so don't plan on any long showers or baths. You'll likely not get much cell service but there is internet so you can stay connected if needed. If this was pet friendly we'd definitely come back, but we prefer to travel with our two small dogs - they would have loved it here too!

Exceptional experience for all! From world travelers to novice "oceaners", Haro Haiku has something for everyone! Thoughtfully arranged with a soulful elegant down to earth homey environment. Every accoutrement desired tastefully & strategically placed in simplicity to preserve the beauty both inside and out. Dark, quiet rooms with comfortable beds allowed excellent sleep! Friday Harbor locals are friendly, helpful for additional charm. Binoculars provided were a bonus to watch Orcas & Eagles from the house! So grateful to have found such a treasure! We came with family in June and have already booked another trip in September for the two of us!

On quiet west side of island with stunning view of Haro Straight and snow covered Olympic Mountains from large banks of windows in living room and master bedroom. Orcas and eagles visible from the deck. Super quiet. 2 cushy king beds with nice linens, 2 baths, comfortable living room couches and wood burning stove. Nice dining room with same terrific view of the straight. Functional kitchen with many (but not all) staples to cook. Washer/dryer (loud!) Very tastefully and sparingly decorated in semi-Asian/Zen decor. Japanese influenced garden as well. Expansive deck to view wildlife (orcas, porpoises, eagles, deer, hummingbirds). Tips: Bring your own high power binos to see everything in the cove below. Enter for the first time in daylight - one lane road up can be dicey if you meet someone coming the other way. View well worth the road and the climb. Odd super short but deep bathtub only a child could fit in. Stick with the 2 showers.
