Cottage
Situated 3 km from the village and 7 km from the beach, Kingfisher's Khaya is conveniently situated. It is in a rural area and a small private garden in front of the cottage makes it an ideal spot to relax after an enjoyable day at the beach.
A 4x4 vehicle is not necessary.
The host resides in the main house with 3 dogs and the ambiance is welcoming and homely.

Very Good accomodation
Sehr schönes Apartment, sehr geräumig,sehr gut und komfortabel eingerichtet. Lee ist eine sehr nette Gastgeberin, die sich sehr um Ihre Gäste bemüht und fast alles möglich macht. In jedem Fall sehr empfehlenswert.

Great cottage in quiet sorrounding
We stayed with Lee for 3 nights in March and were really happy with our cottage and the service she provided. She was so helpful regarding activities, dinner locations etc. which helped our stay immensely. She does have 3 dogs, which you should be aware of. If you are a dog-lover, this is great. I am a bit afraid of dogs, but Lee respected this and took care of the dogs. The cottage contains everything you need and is huge. Plus, there is a nice veranda with hammock etc,
It is a bit remote, so you'll need your car. We liked the "town" of Sodwana Bay, Lighthouse and the Drunken Tree served great dinners and I even had a good pedicure at the massage parlour. Apart from this, Sodwana is all about diving and fishing. The beach costs an entry fee and was packed with boats/tractors/trailers, which was not great. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay in Sodwana Bay and Kingfishers Kaya.

Perfect cottage with lovely outdoor chill area
Really enjoyed our stay here. The garden attracts a lot of beautiful bird life and the outdoor hammock and fire pit were an bonus feature! The dogs were very friendly too. The cottage is serviced, air conditioned and the host was friendly and on hand to give local advise and she even referred us to local operators for our dive bookings. The furnishings are all new and well maintained and the fully equipped kitchen even came with free teas and coffee. The location is central - only a minutes drive to the center of the village. We will definitely stay here again!

How to get there
Sodwana Bay is a remote, rural area. The nearest airport is Richards Bay. The N2 highway from Durban or Richards Bay is an easy ride to Hluhluwe. Thereafter the R11 takes you through rural areas but is tarred. Once in Mbazwana, the owner will give you directions to the Khaya as your GPS won't find it. It's situated on one of thee many small country roads.
If you are driving from Johannesburg you take the N2 to Pongola,then Hluhluwe and on to Mbazwana.
