Cottage -
3 Bedrooms , 3 Bathrooms , Sleeps 6
Percy, Manche, Basse-Normandie, Normandy
LE HAMEL HUBERT is a detached stone house built around 1814 set in the centre of 1.5 hectare plot of land. The house consists of 3 bedrooms and 3 ensuite bathrooms with an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge on the ground floor. The house is just 2 miles from our closest town Percy which is situated on the Route de Liberté (D999) – this is the route in which the Allied Troops took after the D-Day Landing to recapture France from the Germans during the Second World War in 1945.

The surrounding area of the house is peaceful agricultural countryside and in our garden we have sheep and their lambs in season along with chickens and ducks meandering in the garden supplying fresh eggs to guests if required.

There are several villages close by providing French markets on Tuesday (Villedieu-les-Pôeles), Wednesday and Saturdays (Gavray), Satur...

About the neighbourhood

I have published several Kindle books in relation to practical information on moving to France but have created a special book for Holidaying in France as requested from our guests at the Gite it offers places to visit, practical language vocabulary, information on driving, how to work out sizes for clothes, mileage etc, what to do in an emergency - everything you need to know and more here are the most popular places to visit - everywhere is less than 1 hour away and in France you very rarely see a traffic jam!

Normandy Landing Beaches – There are a selection of beaches about 1hr away. You'll find all the information you need on each of the beaches in the folder provided in the Gite. There are quite a few museums regarding the Second World War scattered thr...
Getting around
You will definitely need a car to get around in the Normandy countryside there are a few buses but not very frequent. Our local train station in Villedieu les Poeles offers direct access to Paris in under 3 hours great for a day trip. You can also catch boats to Jersey and some of the smaller channel islands from Granville for the day.
Car recommended
How to get there
Airport: Rennes: 120.0 km
Railway: Villedieu-les-Poeles: 10.0 km
Ferry: Caen Ouistreham: 102.0 km
We are generally about 1 hours drive from the port at Ouistreham near Caen just along the motorway the A84 which is also a toll free motorway which is a definate bonus! In addition we are now just over 1 hours drive from Cherbourg since they have completed the new motorway section cutting out a few smaller villages. If you are flying here we have local airports in Rennes and also Ryan Air fly from Leeds/Bradford, East Midlands and Standstead to Dinard both are just over an hour away and unlike the UK if you are renting a car at the airport they are not more expensive. We are in the countryside and public transport is very limited in France so therefore a car is essential.A popular choice for overseas guests is to fly into Paris spend a couple of days there and then drive down to Normand... more
