About the neighbourhood
There are many beaches in the area. Three Blue flag beaches, Carrowmore, Bertra and Old Head, all three great for family days out and swimming. The beach of Carrownisky is renowed surfing beach and during the summer months you can hire surf boards there. Surf Mayo run lessons from here.
The ferry at Roonagh pier can take you to Clare Island for a day trip, or to Inishturk both of which are places of unspolit beauty.
The drive to Leenaun through the Sheefry /Mweelrea mountains is truly amazing. If you continue through Leenaun you can go to Kylemore Abbey which is worth a visit, the situation of which is spectacular.
The town of Louisburgh is very quaint and spotlessly clean , the local people are very friendly welcoming and hospitable.
