The kitchen diner has an electric oven and hob, microwave cooker, fridge and freezer, washing machine and dryer. A small study provides a working area with Wi-Fi internet access for the holiday-maker's own laptop or tablet, and phone (incoming calls only). One bedroom has a king-sized bed, there is an option to request this to be converted into twin beds if required, (must be advised at time of booking) and a smaller bedroom has a standard size double bed. The bathroom has bath and over-bath electric shower. Heating is via storage heaters and wood burner. A secluded area in the back garden provides a seating area and barbecue. A small public green immediately in front of the cottage provides an additional playing space for children. Dogs are welcome for a small additional charge £2 per day, but because of free-range chickens and other livestock would need to be kept on a lead when in the outside vicinity and we would ask guests to note that the front garden is unenclosed, and that a small dog which was unsupervised might be able to get through the fencing/bushes which enclose the back garden. The cottage is at the top of the village, and final access is via an un-metalled road - drivers be advised! Kilmartin village, a pleasant 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive away, has a general shop and Post Office and the Kilmartin Hotel (which as well as a pub and hotel serving meals can organise and sea trips). The renowned Kilmartin House Museum offers fascinating exhibits including The Valley of Ghosts audio-visual experience, and has a bookshop and award winning café. Lochgilphead is eight miles away, and has a supermarket, delicatessen, wine shop, gift shops and a well-stocked book shop. There is a swimming pool, and a doctors' surgery. Although is a limited bus serves Slockavullin, a car is recommended to make full use of the many activities available in the area. More

We arrived in the first grey and occasionally rainy week of a very hot summer but Trevenek was welcoming and warm. The kitchen spacious and well equipped is a most congenial place and gives easy access to the little enclosed garden where we could occasionally...More

How to get there
Directions from the South: take A82 from Glasgow (or M8 followed by M898 (Erskine Bridge) and then A82), along Loch Lomond side, taking the A83 at Tarbet through Arrochar and Inverarary to Lochgilphead ; take A816 to Oban and turn left on B8025, a mile before reaching the village of Kilmartin. Slockavullin is in a cul-de-sac, so follow the road as far as it takes you. Trevenek is the detached cottage at the very top of the village. Note that the final stretch of road is very rutted and stony so please be careful. Cars should be parked in the gravel area to the right of the cottage. (The small parking area just before the cottage is primarily for other residents but can be used for short periods or if you have visitors). It is important to keep the farm track that runs in front of the cottage clear.
