About the neighbourhood
Għasri is a peaceful village situated on the western part of Gozo. Għasri (or L-Għasri), with a population of approximately 525 people is the smallest village in Gozo, and the third smallest in the Maltese Islands. Some of the most picturesque localities are in the west of the Island of Gozo.
Għasri village is nestled between the hills of Żebbuġ and Għammar, names we chose for our bedrooms. The name has Arab origins, possibly being an area where olives were pressed for oil years ago. Fantastic scenery literally on the doorstep! Ideal area for walking, cycling and plenty of fresh air! Victoria is only a 10 minute ride by car or bus.
Għasri village has a well-stocked supermarket which is only a 10 minute walk away.
Driving in Gozo is on the left-hand side but just in case you do not wish to drive, Għasri is also on a local bus route into the capital Rabat, or better known as Victoria, where the main terminus is situated. The public bus service passes our property hourly and the bus stop is just 50 metres away. Sight-seeing is highly recommended on the ‘hop on hop off’ open top double-decker bus service.
How to get there
On arrival at Malta International Airport, as soon as you exit the main terminal building there are various transport options available.
Car Hire (pick up from airport) from the desks in the arrival hall, during high season we recommend you book beforehand.
Take the shuttle bus to Ċirkewwa which we recommend you book beforehand.
There is a 24hr taxi service at the airport without the need to book however, we can book a transfer on your behalf.
Gozo Channel ferry leaves from Cirkewwa to Mgarr, Gozo, if you travel as passengers and not bring a car, we can meet you at the terminal which is complimentary. (You pay on your return journey)
