Lakeside Rendezvous is the perfect location for that romantic getaway snuggled up by our recently installed log burner. We offer a flexible tailor made service with complete co-ordination to accommodate your every need. In the heart of mystical Wiltshire Lakeside Rendezvous nestles at the foot of the Roundway Hills where it is reputed that a famous battle ensued with Oliver Cromwell at the helm of the Round Heads against the Royalist Cavaliers. Lakeside Rendezvous is located in a tranquil rural location, set in the Vale of the Seven White Horses. At the heart of Lakeside is a natural well established spring fed lake. There are local pubs within a 10 minute walk from Lakeside serving good food and traditional beers. In the local village there are two pubs, one called The George & Dragon which is a highly recommended eating establishment specializing in fish and the other is called The Cross Keys. We also have a new ice-cream parlour within a two minute walk from us, The Rowdey Cow which along with creating superb ice-cream, serve breakfasts, lunches and occasionally evening meals. Or why not stroll along the tow path of the Kennet & Avon canal which is approximately 1 mile from us. The Kennet & Avon canal is a navigable waterway crossing Southern England linking Bristol to Reading. It links many architectural and engineering triumphs including aqueducts, pumping stations and lock flights. The canal is a combination of three waterways, the river Avon to the West, the river Kennet to the East both of which are linked by 57 miles of man-made waterway. We are just 1 mile from the famous Caen Hill locks, 29 in all, the canal then climbs 240ft through locks making its way through the historical town of Devizes. Why not stop off at the Marina and take a trip on one of the now operating narrow boats and lazily travel the canal stopping off at one of the pubs such as The Barge or even hire a day boat yourself if you are feeling a bit adventurous. Alternatively venture into the market town of Devizes taking in Wadworths Brewery where you might see the Dray horse drawn carriages which still deliver the beer. Devizes boasts its own cinema, bingo hall, sports centre and museum along with many good eating establishments such as The Peppermill. There are equestrian and golfing centres nearby. Other interesting local places are all within easy reach. Here are just a few for your perusal: 1. Avebury Stone Circle, Great Barn and Manor House where it is said that three thousand years ago the largest stones at Stonehenge were dragged across the Wiltshire Downs from Avebury. 2. Mystical Stonehenge itself and Salisbury with its famous cathedral. 3. Cherhill and the Pewsey Vale with its White Horses carved into the chalk hills. 4. Bowood House where the current Earl of Shelbourne resides. Bowood House has an adventure playground and the most spectacular gardens. Bowood also has a highly recommended Golf & Country Club, where you do not have to be a member to play a round. 5. The beautiful National Trust Village of Lacock, where Fox Talbot pioneered photography and more recently parts of the Harry Potter phenomenon were filmed. 6. The picturesque National Trust Village of Castle Coombe. 7. The beautiful Georgian city of Bath, with its ancient natural spring baths. 8. Corsham Court which was once a royal manor in the days of the Saxon Kings. The house and gardens are principally the work of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, Jon Nash and Thomas Bellamy. More recently Corsham was used in the acclaimed filming of Poldark. 9. Marlborough town which dates back to the Doomsday Book. If you are thinking about visiting Wiltshire in late summer you may get a chance to see the legendary crop circles and then you can decide for yourselves whether they are fact or fiction. Whatever your reason for visiting Wiltshire let Lakeside Rendezvous be your central location.

Excellent place to have a relaxing stay
We have visited this retreat for many years now and it is such a lovely place to have a relaxing stay. Its location in Rowde is great and only 5 mins from Devizes town. The Lodge accommodation is clean tidy and comfortable and exclusively yours. Set in such a peaceful and tranquil environment with wildlife literally all around you, with plenty of walks if required as well. The lake is well kept and the fishing is excellent with the lake well stocked at all times, and Carp caught in the mid 20s. Finally the hosts /owners make you always feel welcome and are such a lovely couple, who are knowledgeable and very helpful and nothing is ever an issue. We would recommend and hence why we always return Thankyou. Tony & Veronica

RETURN TO LAKESIDE
On our second visit to Lake side we hoped to equal our wonderful experience in May and we were not disappointed . The best got better. All the comments in my earlier review remain true and with the increased temperatures and our accrued experience on the lake led to a great weeks fishing, You don't have to be an expert to catch fish at Lakeside but a little knowledge can lead to much improved catch rates and both Sarah and Phil are a mine of info and always ready help," The real attraction at Lakeside can be summed up in two words,"EXCLUSIVE" and "UNIQUE. Exclusive because with only two lets you only ever have five people max on the lake.Unique because i don't know of any other fishery that offers this level of exclusivity, stock of quality fish and comfortable accommodation for what is not a lot of money. We find the Lakeside experience so satisfying we have booked two seperate weeks per year ad infinitum. Thankyou Sarah and Phil, see you next June. .

Three generations in our party and we all thought we had gone to heaven.
Drive through the gate at Lakeside and you enter a scene worthy of a Constable landscape. The outside of the lodge is rusticated to blend in with landscape and inside it is clean. well appointed and comfortable. We liked the homely feel with tasteful ornaments, pictures and a log burner. Worth a mention is the fact that there are no extras to find.Bed linen, electricitity, logs fishing and a welcome pack are inclusive. We cannot comment on the area as other than Sunday lunch and a supermarket dash we were kept busy with our fishing lake side.We all enjoyed degrees of success with carp to 19 lb, bream and roach in abundance and tench/perch.The condition of the fish was pristine wlth no disfigured fish you find at commercial fisheries. The bottom of the lake is clay and for the most part weed and snag free. Sarah and Phil were model hosts and should be proud of Lakeside. We will return in September and have already booked for next year.

Paul and his family were model guests leaving the lodge how they found it and we are certainly looking forward to having them stay with us in September. Hopefully they will be able to surpass the 19 lb carp caught on this occasion. I would definitely recommend them as guests. Thank you for your lovely review. See you all soon. Kind Regards, Sarah, Phil and all the animals, especially Dotty.

Long weekend fishing break
Didn't know it was off a busy main road, but the fish kept us sufficiently distracted most of the time. Accommodation a little old fashioned, but it had most things needed and a lovely appointed back double bedroom, with patio doors into the front garden. A decent shower, just a tad hot, though! No Wi-fi, but was told that this is in hand. Good access to the lake. Lovely to have the entire pretty lake, to fish, all to ourselves! Really accepting of our dog. Clyde was treated like the one of the owners own pet dogs, who were v. friendly, just a little bit cheeky, especially when it came to our luncheon meat bait!!! V. friendly and knowledgeable owners. Enjoyed the fresh baked croissants and home-made jam, as part of the welcome pack.

Thank you for your lovely review. We would love to welcome you back soon. Kareene, Tony and Clyde were great guests. Unfortunately we can't do anything about the road but we can address the other points mentioned with reference to Wi-fi and updating the accommodation.

Great place to stay!
Lovely comfortable accommodation in tranquil surroundings, with Devizes being only 5 minutes away by car. We like it so much that we've been back yearly for 10 years now. Unfortunately circumstances mean that we can't go again next year, and we'll really miss our stay and meeting up again with the owners, Sarah and Phil, who make you feel more than welcome. Can't recommend it enough!

A beautiful and peaceful haven
Our third visit to this beautiful place. The accommodation is great with all the amenities that you could wish for which includes a welcome pack on arrival. It is perfect for my elderly mother as she is not very mobile. Set in gorgeous grounds with wildlife everywhere it is very peaceful for just chilling or fishing if you wish in the lovely lake. Close to Caen steps on the Kennet and Avon canal and the Wadsworth Brewery in Devizes. There are also plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby. The owners Phil and Sarah are lovely and have always made us so welcome. We look forward to our visit again next year.
