Broom with a View is a self-contained, ground floor apartment attached to my own home at Lower Tytherleigh Farm on the borders of East Devon and West Dorset. As the name suggests there are incredible far-reaching views across the countryside. It has it's own private entrance and features a relaxing bedroom with king size bed, a separate living/dining space with a mini kitchen with fridge and dishwasher and an outdoor terrace area under a veranda. Guests also have their own spacious bathroom with bath and walk-in shower as well as guest amenities including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap from Botanika. Perfect for a romantic getaway or for a truly comfortable business trip stop off. Guests also have their own spacious bathroom with bath and walk-in shower as well as guest amenities including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap from Botanika. Perfect for a romantic getaway or for a truly comfortable business trip stop off. There is an award-winning pub/restaurant (2 mins walking), SW Rail Axminster (10 mins by car), trains to Exeter (40 mins)/London Waterloo (2hrs 50mins), A303 (25 mins by car), Exeter (50 mins by car). Lyme Regis, Charmouth and the Jurassic Coast are just a half hour drive away. Broom with a View has all the modern technology and appliances you’ll need including dedicated Wi-Fi access point, Smart TV with integrated DVD player and lots of DVDs and a bluetooth speaker. For more old-fashioned pursuits, there are a selection of books you're welcome to borrow while you're staying here, as well as backgammon and board games. The kitchen has a two ring hob, microwave, fridge with a small freezer compartment, and a dishwasher (there is no oven). It is fully equipped with (hopefully) everything you might need including pots and pans, plates, glasses, mugs, cutlery, kitchen utensils and a corkscrew of course! You'll be welcomed with a starter package of fair trade teas and coffees as well as milk, cereal, bread, butter and jams. For stays of three nights or longer, we'll reward you with a bottle of prosecco or wine, local ale or cider, or lager depending on your preference. We'll even make sure you've got ice cubes in the freezer! There is a resident dachshund living in the main house and he is a notoriously curious chap who will probably come and visit you at some point so unfortunately we don't allow visiting dogs at the moment. If dark skies and star-spotting are your thing, you'll really enjoy staying here as at night, there is barely another light to be seen. You are welcome to borrow the telescope - you'll probably know more about how it works than me! We'll make sure the bird feeders are full so keep your eyes open for the huge variety of birds that fly around here including greater spotted woodpeckers, collared doves, nuthatches, chaffinches, our shy green woodpecker and resident buzzards as well as the annual visits from swallows and swifts. You have access to your own terrace sheltered by a veranda and equipped with a comfortable seating/dining area and outside lighting. You are welcome to walk around the top half of the garden and the adjoining paddock and field (as long as there is no livestock at the time). There are some public footpaths and bridleways a short stroll away and more within a short drive by car.More

How annoying is it when a person blocks you in with their car? Don’t be that person Please shut gates to keep cows out I smoke where I like. I live here. You can’t, except outside. Outside is fine This is the countryside not Ayia Napa. Please be mindful of the neighbours No candles inside please. My nerves are combustible. If you break something, let me know so I can replace it (not your arm or leg, that’s down to you) Turn off lights when going out. Think of the planet and my bills

We stayed here as a stopover on our way to Cornwall. The accommodation was lovely, just what we were looking for and Beverley (the host) was so helpful and kind. We would happily stay again.

About the neighbourhood
This is a wonderful part of rural England, full of working farms and small villages and towns. Every season brings changing views of the countryside from the colour of the trees and hedges to different crops growing in the fields, and the variety of livestock grazing them. There are plenty of interesting places to visit, from gorgeous gardens to beautiful beaches, a plethora of pubs and restaurants and many small, independent shops as well as standard supermarkets all within easy reach. You might want to book a horse ride or a walk with alpacas, enjoy a guided fossil walk in Charmouth or meander along some of the many lovely walks available just a short drive away.
